i94 - The end is near

The same format called "I 93" in Dallas is not doing well at at either. They are at 93.3 and they too have sigmal issues. "Kiss FM" is killing them.

Of the three I stations launched by Cumulus (I-106 Nashville, I-94 Indi, I-93 Dallas) only I-93 is showing promise in the ratings. It continues to slowly but surely climb in the monthly PPMs, now up to a 2.7 with a cume of 900 K.
But yeah, they definitely don't sound nearly as good as Dallas's heritage CHR, 106.1 Kiss FM, which is pretty much an institution in the Big D.

they also have i100 in Florida and i100 in Myrtle Beach. I think i94 should lean rock or rhythmic or something to counteract Radio Now 100.9. give commercial free mondays like Now FM does in NY. get rid of Billy Bush is a start. or make the station Urban CHR like Radio Now 98.9 in Louisville

Perhaps they will do what they did Louisville. Just shut the thing off and save the electric bill.

I'm sure you have a better idea. Maybe, Dance?

Yeah, I do. I wouldn't have dumped the only format on that frequency to have over a 2 share or bill seven digits.

That was 3 or 4 formats ago. What now?

I think the next format is Christmas Music! After that... maybe a rocker or maybe they go urban?

I'm probably the only one, but I"m hoping they flip back to the week they played TV themes before the Song came along. I was so enchanted with that format I still have about 14 recorded hours of it. How's that for not having a life.. ;D

Actually urban would make sense as a format considering the signal limitations. I think God himself would stop the Dickey's from doing a Christian format since they are godless and heartless. What about a flanker for WFMS? I think there is actually a stronger argument for flankers in the PPM world than in the diary era, but that hasn't been researched (radio is so broke it doesn't have money for research).

I think Urban would have a tough time. We don't have a huge percentage of African American population compared to other large cities. It would be tough to make money as the also ran Urban. I don't see a quick fix or even a long term win on this frequency. They could go back to Warm and hope that PPM is kinder than the diary. They could probably bill more money with a traditional Oldies station than they have with the last several formats.

A traditional Oldies station [like Susquehanna's Gold] would make quite a bit of sense for this Cumulus cluster.

A cluster of Classic Hits [JJK], mainstream Country [FMS] and Gold would put them in a better position to sell as a trombo than any format they've tried in a while [other than perhaps WARM]. It would be the best way to monetize that stick, somewhat regardless of ratings - the melding of demos across the three formats would be easier to position than the third station as CHR, Urban, even CC[The Song faced some religious backlash from the buying community even though it still was about the best thing they've done so far there].

Classic Hits/Country/Oldies audience overlap, the synergy potential across the formats to work collectively as a promotional wall on projects, trombo sales potential - poke 'em in the "I" and bring back the vinyl spins from the juke box baby!

They could go Rhythmic since Hot 96 and Radio One are the Urban leaders in town,, but I really could care less.. I cant really hear them here anyway as Paul Ford likes to come in and Squash them out,.. On top of that I get First Adjacent interference from 94.1,, Country gospel bible blaster in Martinsville.
