"IBiquity Digital's Make-or-Break Point Approaches"

Well this ain't New York, but there's plenty of "live and local" radio in the small towns around here. Granted, most stations use some automation nights and weekends. But live radio is far from dead at GOOD stations, with radio people at the helm, who care about their communities.

An interesting side effect of all the consolidation is that LOTS of former big market talent is "available". The guy who holds my old job, mornings at WIFM FM in Elkin NC, was for many years the afternoon guy at WTQR Greensboro...one of the highest rated stations on the planet, and he OWNED his time slot for many years. Now he's doing mornings in a small town.

ANYBODY can broadcast Limbaugh, Hannity, or the latest Britney Spears tune. I've always felt as a personality my REAL value was that the only thing the other guy couldn't duplicate was ME!
