Sure they do. If anyone is listening to a HD-2 or HD-3 channel, then they are not listening to the station's primary channel. That's the one that makes the money based on how many ears they can deliver. Fewer ears can potentially equal less money.
It would be nice to think these new formats actually bring people back to radio, but with a few exceptions form early adopters of format fanatics, I doubt it’s true.
