"Idol" Finale: Lowest-Rated Ever

Glad to hear it performed poorly! Now maybe WTIC-TV (FOX) channel 61 of Hartford can put their pom-poms away and actually do what they're supposed to do at 10 pm...report news! :(

Not unique to Hartford though, Fox 5 (WNYW) did the same thing. If you want real news these days, you'd better pick up a paper, look online, or perhaps BBC.

To me even game shows aren't reality. Why? Because the contents are picked. An actual reality show would be take the first 100 people to sign up and let them go

Imagine "Wheel Of Fortune" like that. You'd get things like "I'd like a 'Z', a 'Q", an 'X' and a "U" for the vowel.

;D

People in the reality shows are cast every bit as much as actors on a drama or sitcom. The difference is they get paid a small fraction of what an actor gets.

AI has been on a long time and no show is gonna last forever at the top, though some obviously last longer than others.

I actually like Ellen, but think she is out of place on this show. As for Ryan Seacrest, I hardly see what is irritating about him. He is pretty bland and inoffensive as one could get.

I think people just get irritated when they see how much money he makes and doesn't seem to have no real talent. Of course they said the same thing about Dick Clark too. Just a nice guy, who's inoffensive and pleasent for the ladies to look at.

Clark made the vast majority of his money as a producer and not holding a mic.

GOOD! I sincerely hope that happens! Although I like Kelly Clarkson, I've never watched a single minute of American Idol, and I feel so much better knowing that! :D

I've watched maybe about 30 minutes of Idol during its 9 seasons. Just not my type of show. However, I don't wish for its demise. I would think that the only people who would want A.I. off the air are the other stations who have been getting killed in the ratings. A.I. doesn't promote injustice and is family friendly; not a threat to us.

I'd be curious to see where the numbers went if they dumped Seacrest. IMHO, he is one of the most annoying individuals on television right now.

And radio too. Apparently, some stations are dumping Ryan's show and going back to local & live. Obviously, the term "over-exposure" doesn't exist in Seacrest's vocabulary. Too bad.
c5

My take on Ryan Seacrest is sure, he's overexposed. By why not? Strike while the iron is hot! If execs will pay him insane money for work, and he is comfortable with that work, why not do it? He might be the next Dick Clark, who will be employed forever. Or he could lose it all and be a local D.J. somewhere in Montana.

Peter Griffin did something like that on "Family Guy". In fact, he chose Q twice, and the Batman symbol.

Actually, he picked, in order: a Z, the number 4, three Q's, and the Batman symbol. He still managed to win the bonus round, despite none of his characters appearing in the puzzle.

Oh, yeah, forgot the 4. 3 Qs?
