If Imus returns to the Fan...(then 'TKK too?)

http://www.nypost.com/seven/07022007/news/regionalnews/talking_up_imus_regionalnews_don_kaplan.htm

They're buzzing in NY about the poss of Imus coming back in the fall to WFAN (once things "cool down",
with a toned down show)...and Maloney of SaveWRKO.com wonders if a new syndie deal could bring
the I-man back to Boston, too. Who knows.

Post: "Imus pals Mike Francesa and Chris Russo, of "Mike and the Mad Dog," hinted that a deal to bring the crusty talk-radio cowboy back is in the works."

SaveWRKO: "No wonder WTKK hasn't tried out a number of potential morning hosts, they're simply waiting for the I-Man's radio return. It also explains why Mike Barnicle dropped out of the "running" for this non-opening. Obviously, he knew something we didn't."

Though Maloney adds that maybe Imus is "yesterday's news"...still, you never know. I wonder if Imus
might sign up with another syndicator (TalkRadioNetwork? ABC?) to do a show which may not necessarily be
mornings.

"Crusty" Don Imus vs Michael Graham "Cracker"?
No question. Bring Back Imus.

And while you're at it, put MSNBC on alert as well. If they (MSNBC) neglect to acknowledge, contact Fox. Imus will get along great with the news bunnies over there!!

They get Joe Scarborough in the morning and we get stale Graham Crackers... Life IS unfair.

For now at least it looks like MSNBC has "Morning Joe" Scarborough.

TV Squad: "It looks like the rumors are true: Joe Scarborough is getting the Don Imus spot on MSNBC.
Howard Kurtz at The Washington Post is reporting that Scarborough and MSNBC are in final negotiations to make his Morning Joe show the permanent show in the 6am to 9am slot on the network.
Scarborough has been filling in (with other hosts, such as David Gregory) since Imus went bye-bye, and has been getting good buzz (though not ratings). Some CBS radio stations might pick up the show as well"

So poss WTKK too? (Westwood One..?)

Three hundred million people in this country and they have to scrape the bottom of the "been there, done that" barrel?

There's so little imagination in radio.

Why not put an illegal alien on the radio in the morning?

There are 30,000,000+ of them. What an untapped talent pool!

How about "McGuirk's tryout station" WRKO?

;D ;D ;D Hahahahaha Why Would Dippty Do Don care..At his age and the Money he gets on the buy out...I'd stay on the ranch!! Wouldn't You...Hahaha.. Come on down and see me and the boys in "Beautiful St Lucie County" hahahah BIG APE!!

NH Ronin basically summed this thread up.

The lack of imagination in radio is staggering!

How many minutes of "fame" does Don need? And when any of the posters mention the words: "tone down"----the first thing that pops into most heads is: Imus is not as good on the air---now that he has to behave himself :-*

i'd take crackers over idiot joe anyday. crackers is actually a decent host but not in the early morning timeslot.
i read in one the trades that joe wanted to save his media career and get out of the 9pm timeslot where he was getting waxed by larry king. now, how embarassing is that when larry king topples you in the ratings?!
i can't see this guy being a big hit on radio. a simulcast of disney channel or nickelodeon could probably fetch bigger than numbers for wtkk.

I'd love to see Imus come back on WRKO. Dennis and especially Callahan, on WEEI, have expressed their hatred of Imus (though it should be noted that Callahan admitted that he'd never met him) and have called him crook, thief, fraud and many other names. Name calling is Callahan's specialty. Callahan has also made snide remarks about Imus' wife. It would be interesting to see these shows, on stations both owned by Entercom, opposite each other. I suspect that Julie Kahn and Jason Wolfe would have to tone down D&C.
