If oldies are truly "dead"...

WBBM may be listed as a CHR, yet they play very little to no contemporary music whatsoever,
that is not urban! as a matter of fact, they have just recently started to play a couple of songs completely
in Spanish.

The fact that B-96 plays a couple of Spanish language songs, if anything, proves that the station is not Urban. All the trades and data sources identify the station as rhythmic or rhythmic CHR or just CHR. When a station plays Lady Gaga, David Guetta, Black Eyed Peas, Pussycat Dolls, etc., it certainly is not urban. It's just reflecting the pop music culture in a large market with a significant Hispanic and African American influence.

And, since B-96's audience is only around 10% Black, while it is nearly 2/3 non-ethnic, we can pretty much conclude that B-96 is not urban when we see WGCI with around 75% African American listening.

They, as well as yourself, may call themselves whatever you chose, I live in Chicago and I HEAR what they play, and how the station presents itself. So please stop your lame, yet, persistent attempt to
discredit me.

I am discrediting, via debate, your inaccurage claims. Here above is a perfect example, where you claim that B96 is urban yet the facts show that only a tiny percentage of its listeners are Black. In fact, B-96 has three times as many Hispanics as Blacks, and six times as many non-ethnic ("other") listeners.

While WLEY may not be a Downtown FM, they are a 22kW(50kW ERP) facility broadcasting from
the top of the WSCR 670 tower. They are as close to a full city grade signal as you can get. In some
areas, actually have better signal strength, in some places than the Chicago sticks. In the majority
of the metro area, their signal is no weaker than the best of the Downtown signals. I know, I live
here, but, your looking at technical numbers, that don't always match up with real world conditions.
So we must go buy your expertise.

I've worked with the Chicago market going back to the time the Wheelers owned 1330 in Evanston and 105.1 in Chicago... and I'm quite aware that WLEY does not penetrate buildings as well as the downtown B's anywhere inside the Loop. You are quite correct that in some outlying areas the WLEY signal is better... but the population density in those places is much, much lower than most places in Cook County.
