Watched the clip and my thoughts lean toward him being right.
Large cororporate owners taking all the profits from radio for shareholders will not work anymore. It is sucking the life out of radio.
To me, Radio is at it's best with smaller groups, responsible to themselves and using profits for... the boss' pocket and his new car every year(it IS thier business) ...equipment and facilities ... promotion and marketing ... and a liveable salary for the employees (which has been done). This is what makes for good radio.
Don't give the money a chance to go to 'shareholders', who always want more. Put it back in the stations that could serve the local audience. If people want to invest in radio, let them buy a station.
When movies were invented, they said radio was dead.
When movies got sound, they said radio was dead.
When TV came around, they said radio was dead.
When 8-tracks and Cassettes came around, they said radio was dead.
When MTV arrived, they said radio was dead.
When I-pods and P2P came, they said radio was dead.
When satellite radio showed up, they said radio was dead.
When mega-corporations took over, they said radio was dead.
Yoo-hoo, don't look now but RADIO IS STILL HERE.
thanx for letting me vent among friends.
