Interesting. I used to listen to that station a bit when it was known as "880 The Biz" and was supposedly a "business talk" format. They had a pretty horrible local morning show featuring a husband/wife team who initially started with a weekend "eat & critique" food show on another AM station and somehow got a morning gig, but to describe it as amateurish would be a compliment IMO. Following that, the rest of the day was a mixed bag of Bloomberg news and radio programs, and lots of 30 minute or hour-long infomercials for stock trading programs, estate planning services and the like. There were some interesting local programs in the afternoon, one hosted by a real estate financier, but it was really an eclectic mix. One hour it'd be a group that would broadcast from different businesses in the Miami area weekly (while making lots of exaggerated claims in an effort to over hype and sell the businesses they were broadcasting from), to a right-wing conspiracy theorist to a pro-marijuana legalization show to another program that highlighted police, dispatchers and public safety. The weekend was a mix of infomercials, snake oil salesmen hawking vitamins and supplements and even a Caribbean-themed music program. Many programs would be rebroadcast multiple times.
I used to tune in every once in a while just to see what was airing and really enjoyed some of the local programs, as they were an unpolished throwback to radio basics...Just a host, an occasional guest, maybe some callers if they were really lucky, and sometimes cheesy bumper music going in and out of breaks. It was owned by Salem Media back then - Immaculate Heart took ownership just a bit more than a year ago in July, 2019.
