In the beginning Mayor Lou made some valid points. He could have actually done some good, but he let control of this issue fall into the hands of the "hood & sheet" crowd, which has brought out every bigot on the planet. When the always desirable KKK offered to come to Hazleton to "stand with their brother" Lou Barletta, Mayor Lou instead of issuing a loud and total denial of the KKK he gave a very luke-warm no-thanks. When U.S. citizen Amilcar Arroyo, who happens to be one of the most soft-spoken, well mannered people on earth was beaten up at one of Mayor Lou's rallys, there was barely a peep from the mayor's office about the violence. Of course it was caught on national TV video tape, which then makes Hazleton and it's people look like toothless rednecks from Alabama in the 1950's. Mayor Lou could have been seen going around spotlighting legal immigrants who have opened businesses or done something good for the community, instead he is seen with bigots and it tarnishes his entire message.
