I'm Really Fed Up With TV Media

Whose money is it. If it’s campaign money it’s the people’s money.
Wrong. The only people involved are the ones who gave a campaign or PAC money of their own free will.
Nobody came along and took money from you then gave it to a campaign. Jeff Bezos money isn't your money too, it's his.
Mark Zuckerberg has a lot of money and that's not yours either.
If money people donate to a campaign is used for radio or TV ads, I'm willing to bet they trust the campaign or PAC on where to place the buys.

KPNX Phoenix is bombarding us with political ads, mainly for President and US Senate, during their Olympics coverage. Both parties are doing it, and it's already way out of hand.
One of the joys of living in a swing state, unfortunately. We're subjected to more of Kari Lake now than when she was still anchoring the news. And it's only going to get worse!

People who donated gave so willingly and they should know the candidate will use it for "campaign purposes"

For the first time in my life, i donated to a presidential campaign and i dont care what they use it for

Unfortunately, for the advertisers, it is easy to ignore online commercials.

HOWEVER.. it can be very targeted.. to certain zipcodes, area codes, genders and ages.. something radio can't quite do outside of very broad targetting based on formats and the average listener

But in some cases, its misplaced, sometimes advertising is based on IP Address... thanks to viasat, ive been served up ads for south florida roofing companies on facbeook

Same with medicine. Tell that to your doctor.
In particular, my eye doctor has had it with big pharma ads for the latest eye medications. People come in and request them. As a professional, he has to take extra time to explain why he doesn't think the "new" medication is right for a patient's situation.

However, those big pharma ads help keep the media companies in business.

People with Fixed Wireless (5G) home internet have the same problem. And, the number of people who use this is growing due to its value proposition.

I have a condition that requires eye treatments. Believe me, the medication is whatever the doctor can get approved by my insurance, and time between treatments is up to him, not the pharmaceutical company

Some of us are old enough to remember watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" every Sunday evening.

While that was a fun show, there was also a bit of sadness to it. We kids knew that, once that show was over, it was off to bed, and school on Monday. The weekend was officially over.
It has been on during the past several months. However, it's pointless. They start it at 9 Eastern when the kids should be in bed.

Absolutely, my condition requires treatments as well. When my doctor find something that works, he likes to stick with it as long as possible. The danger is always that, if you switch and something goes wrong, you may never get back to the vision you had before. But my doctor has generally been proactive with me -- still trying to find something that will work long term.

My retina guy is one of the best in the business. I had a tiny vessel expolose in one eye, causing swelling, blood and gunk inside my eye. That caused a big loss of vision. After almost a year it's not all back (may never be) but much better than it was. I trust him all the way.

I'm so used to it since Michigan has been a swing state almost every election year for President even ever since 92 other 2016 have gone blue only one was Hillary Clinton in 2016. It was nice in 2008 John McCain stopped airing ads in Michigan in Oct and Mitt Romney didn't air ads in 2012 Obama did air ads the last 2 weeks of the election in 2012. I'll be glad once Nov rolls around when I don't see any more of the political ads like when it is the final weekend and on Tue at 6PM no more political ads once the polls are about to close. If I owned one of the big TV station groups I'd take the money as it pays the bills even if I disagree with the political ads it's just business.

We'd all be better off if political advertising were totally prohibited. These ads do absolutely nothing to bring any sort of useful information to the voting public but they encourage the political parties to beg/borrow/steal vast amounts of monies to spend on misleading commercials.
They've been pretty much worthless since the beginning of the Republic. Attack ads have been the American Way since Day One. But they are protected speech under the First Amendment, and we just have to deal with them.

Personally, I ignore them. I base my votes on candidates' published positions and their own words. But the BS ads can't be prohibited, and all licensed radio and TV stations are required to air them unless they decide to refuse 100% of them. Nobody turns down money.
