IMUS NOT THE ONLY BIGOT

Kevin said:
Do good once a year? You know very little about how charitable Imus is and has been in the past.
When you're making sexist, racist and homophobic comments all year long, I guess you'll have to keep "feeding the kitty" to get a wink, a nod and pass...

Wow. You manage to knock down people who also do good in the world.

Don't you have anything better to do? How about you go outside for a few minutes and get some fresh air. Maybe it'll clear your head. You've been spending way too much time here stressing out about Imus.

Kevin,

I don't care if he holds 365 fund-raisers a year, it doesn't excuse a hateful remark like the one he made. There are several formerly wealthy CEOs in prison right now for acts of corporate fraud, and yes, while they were committing fraud, some of them gave huge amounts of money to charity. It didn't excuse their fraud, nor should it, and no one even suggested that it should.

And one more time, I pose the question that NEVER gets answered. What is in any way funny about calling some innocent young college basketball players "natty-haired hos"? The question that none of the Imus lovers dares to go near, because it's an instant loser for them. The obvious and sad reality here is that although no one will admit it, many here find racism and hate to be funny.

No, I think it is you who needs to get a more clear understanding of what kind of a racist Imus is and that "doing good for kids" and others doesn't give him a pass to say the racist, sexist and homophobic things has been saying EVER.

I'm not stressing over anything. If anyone should be it would be anyone involved with the Imus show as they are about to all lose their jobs.

For people to say Imus is NOT a racist talk to the receptionists and workers of color back from WNBC days and they will tell you how Imus insulted them by calling them the N word to their face.

When he said nappy headed hos he meant it as a joke. If you heard it he was laughing. I'm suing Thw waynes bros for the white chicks movie

It was racist. And he was a racist laughing. Get a clue or get racial sensitivity training.

It somewhat kind of simple if you really think about it. Everyone knows that if you listen to Imus, Opie and Anthony, or even Howard Stern, more than likely you will hear off color remarks. Wouldn't it be much more simple to tune them out rather than protest and try getting them off the air. Perhaps I find Hot 97 and Power 105 offensive in every way, but you don't hear me and 1 million other whites protesting in front of the stations. There is not an ethnicity that has never not been made fun of over the decades. Enough is enough, and I find it a sad day when the likes of Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson can dictate what we should be able to hear and not hear. Tune it out, just as I tune urban stations out. As for the offended race, get over it. Do like the Italians, the Irish, the Polish and Russians did, heck throw in the Japanese and Koreans too....rise above it and move yourself forward. It's all nonsense. Now I'll get back to my Meds...lol.

Uncle Bozzie,

If you think this is about Sharpton and Jackson dictating anything, you need meds worse than I thought you did. You give Sharpton and Jackson credit for much more power than they actually hold. This decision was made after a broad-based outcry--from listeners, from advertisers, and from employees of NBC.

You're right. It doesn't excuse him for talking the way he did. I'm just trying to make a simple point. Imus was only joking. Bad joke of course, but he wasn't like "this is what I think about these women". Context people. Think about it.

Jim, I'm surprised you would pose a question that you already know an answer to. It is not at all funny to call innocent young college basketball players "(what he said)".

They're all over the place

There are plenty of bigots all over the dial in New York. Their names are Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Matt Drudge -- and that's for starters.

Mighty broad brush ya got there ChuckyBaby... And you had to post this is in at least two threads to boot.

OK we all can recite in our sleep the words that got Don Imus fired.

Since you labeled all those talk show hosts bigots, I assume you can back that assertion up with some quotes by each of them, no???????????????

Hahahaha I'm waiting!

Shame on post-modern liberalism... Lenny Bruce would be cussing you out for Political Correctness! George Carlin is laughing... Remember the idiot statements made by Imus were not new to his show.. He just hit Jesse and Al in the gut.... If it had been some comment on Jews, White Conservatives, Christians of any style and west of the Hudson flyover, it would not be noticed..... He deserves what he got, but Sixties Liberals have no room for the post-modern liberal that only believes in free speech, if it agrees with them.. I defend the right of any left winger to call Rush, Sean and any of the guys and gals that lean more to my direction, anything they want... BUT if your socialistic (we play god, not you) attacks play out (as they might), you will have a backlash of Libertarian, Conservatives, Old School Liberals ready to charge Jesse, Al S., Al G. all with the same bigotry and hate you accuse ANY and EVERYONE that disagrees with you.... McCarthy was found out for his fault and shunned by society in the 50's (and I glad he was, even on his hyper-right of center made up finger pointing), BUT I see the same stupidity coming from the hyper-left, as well... Truth does not mean anything to the post-modern liberal...Just power and spin... To those on the right...You can't deal with a rabid dog... At least Humphrey and Goldwater met once a week at a Georgetown deli to discuss what should be debated in the Senate... They had different ideas, but one thing stood out to these power players of their parties....Tomorrow...Make it better for the kids and grandkids.... Now, it's good ideas by power hungry party bosses on both sides... Power and domination over what's best for the country.. No wonder the percentage of active party membership is down on both ends of the spectrum.... More consider themselves as independent than ever.... Liberman had his own turn on him and now court him to 'come back home' after beating their modern day profit who won in a low turnout primary.... Now, you turn on your own, again.. Imus was a Kerry supporter and always leaned left.... You have shot your own in sacrifice...For what?? Stirring up racial tension, division, and the "Big Brother" mindset, that the regular people of this country can't decide, only the enlightened intelects of the Left and East Coast..... Harry Truman would be cursing you out for putting your power and party afiliation over being a passionate group that wants dialogue..... I think the slight edge you have in the House and Senate is a good thing (as the right couldn't support its own agenda, because of power hungry long time leadership)....It's good to see that you have no ability to do the same... My new Congressman and friend (Democrat) Brad Ellsworth is caught being touted as a Conservative Democrat that now is needled by Polosi to vote her way or the highway.. 'Cause we midwest folks don't count'... We're bumpkins and only East and Left Coasters know better... The former 12 year Congressman and friend John Hostettler told disgraced Newt G. to take a hike and he stood his ground for his area over the party (Republican)... He lasted longer in the Republican held Congress than Newt.. He stood for something.. At least with historical figures like Truman (Dem.) and Teddy R. (Rep.)...You might oppose their view on issues, but you knew where they were coming from... No double speak... Orwell might be right, just a little off in the year (not 1984).... ???
