Wow. It turns out that the Soros organization was behind the Imus flap. No one in the media noticed for two days until the barrage of faxes and e-mails from Soros. It may be that the Rutgers team was just a pawn in the game. This wasn’t about racism. It wasn’t about the Rutgers team…it was about taking down someone who wasn’t even conservative, just tried to let the other side speak. It was a political operation with the willing or unwitting allies of Sharpton and Jackson.

Dear Ms. Cat

I have heard that one of the young ladies said she was "scared" for life.  If a few words could scar her for the rest of her life, this young lady is not ready to enter the real world.  I do not believe for one minute that a comment like the one made by Mr. Imus could undermine and ruin their basketball season.  If anything, it made people more aware of the Woman's Basketball Program at Rutgers University.  It also highlighted the high academic level these ladies have achieved.  I was reading today where the ladies were not even asked about Imus keeping his job or not.  They accepted his apology and they said he SHOULD NOT have been fired.  As to the "recovery" time needed, in my opinion, recovery time is not needed.

It is really sad when in 2007, we are so concerned over some words said on a radio show.  How and when did we decide that people cannot be forgiven?  An error is made, an apology is given, and the world moves on.  However, this will not happen here due to Rev. Sharpton.  He is calling this "round 1".  Mr. Sharpton is now going to be the "Speech Police".  I hope you are correct in saying Mr. Sharpton will now move on to the Music Industry.  After that he can clean up Hollywood, then he can clean up the Television Stations, then move on to Books and Magazines, then Video Games.  Let's not forget his real job..fueling the fire of racism in the Black Community.

I am glad the Ladies Basketball Team recovered enough to be on "The Oprah Program".  I hope they recover in time for all of the magazine covers they will be getting, not to mention the press interviews, and also the "Hallmark" Movie that you know is coming. 

As for Mr. Imus going to Satellite Radio, I do not think the FCC has anything to do with it, this is why people go to Satellite Radio.  I did read somewhere on this site that Sirius was interested in him. However, Reps. from Sirius denied it.?

Just for the record, I am Jewish, and IT DID NOT UPSET ME when Rev. Jackson referrred to parts of New York as
"Hymie-town".  This is how Mr. Jackson is.  I am also aware of the many good things he does.  I am not going to let two words overshadow his positive actions.   Recovery Time: 0.00

I will give you, from my extensive news and blog search engine searches and checking with some reporter friends, that it appears that Soros-funded left-leaning Media Matters was the first to put this on the net. Posted at 6 PM EDT on April 4 http://mediamatters.org/items/200704040011 IF I AM WRONG, SOMEONE PLEASE CORRECT ME. As for the faxes and emails, we'd have to get a report when they were sent out. But I can't find anything earlier than this posted on the internet.

Soros funded organizations, such as MoveOn.org do faxing and emails on a regular basis when something they don't like in the media comes up. So it's not just on Imus.

Of course, none of this could ever have happened without Imus himself.

Imus could have contined this himself. First, by realizing how serious it was. Then all he had to do was say he was sorry on the air, beg forgiveness, say he needed to meet with the team ASAP to personally say he was sorry, say he needed to take time off to reflect on his misjudgement and leave immediately thereafter. He should have been off the air no later than Good Friday.

This story would never have become as huge as it was if it wasn't for Imus own missteps which I and others have repeated enough for now.

I'm sure Soros is pleased. He is backing Obama, the only Presidential candidate that came out against Imus (ok, you might want to question that one, too). So I won't say he wasn't part of the "mix" on this but legs on this story just grew and grew and grew and that's only one persons fault, Imus.

I'd also like to know who had Imus' back? Other than hearing that Imus had the choice to take himself off, nowhere do I see anyone at CBS or NBC (or even his own people) steering him in what do do in crisis mode. Maybe we're just reading a little too far into a conspiracy theory?

I will still say Imus had to go. He had a history of this. He did himself in, regardless of who "spread" the news.

I will tell you I personally have disdain for George Soros and Media Matters since they are trying to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine for obvious reasons.

The argument that conservative talk would not have floushed without reagan killing the FD in 1987 is nonsense. Even if you take a mad dog like Bob Gigante (Grant) his largest audiences were during his first two decades here in NYC. The Fairness Doctrine was in effect for 17 of those.

The Fairness Doctrine was an industry established set of ethics that simply encouraged broadcast media to provide a balanced perspective on political and social issues. Had it continued, you would still have had characters like Rush Limbaugh and maybe some other wackos such a North and Liddy -the demographics of AM would have meant such. However you would not have entire stations with this monolithic diatribe and the lies of some of these types could have been countered by other hosts.

Its fitting to see that these broadcasters have, in the end, shot themselves in the ass. The demographics for these shows are now so old (median 64+) that they will be unsustainable within the next 5 years.

One of the main hopes for the AM-IBOC system is that it will make the medium viable once again for formats that can attract younger listeners.

It better work or AM will eventually sound as Short wave does today: wall-to-wall religion hucksters and ethnic.

There is no need for a government dictated "Fairness Doctrine" EVER again. The marketplace can police itself very well by offering a fair and balanced diet of different points of view to those who wish to listen.

The vast majority of stations that I hear full of lies are those associated with NPR and Air America.

As for getting younger demos while doing talk, my best friend has a proven track record as a morning show host on an AM conservative talk station in a top 75 market and has top 5 25-54 numbers and even very good 18-34 numbers to show. His managers were even shocked as the numbers grew. Just depends on your content and how "entertaining" and "informative" the presentation is. It doesn't hurt that he's from Los Angeles and worked it for many years either.

As for IBOC, it's a joke just like HD-2 or AM Stereo was. IBOC and HD-2 are going nowhere. Nobody cares. There is no "buzz" for them except for radio execs who are smoking something funny.

With an IPOD-like device coming out this summer that will allow you to stream internet radio wirelessly and get music downloaded via satelllite with an attachment to your vehicle (ALL FOR FREE if you listen to ads), you can forget kids ever coming to AM or FM. Think to the future. The AM and FM bands are the past..
