In house Townsquare Lafayette drama unfolding

CJ didn't get props from Elton John? I guess their kind doesn't really stick together. As for Hot 107.9, 2 employees stabbing you in the back? Hmm let's use some deductive reasoning on this one. Digital and Chris Reed. DING DING DING we have a winner...erm losers. Chris Reed is a known insurectionist/mutineer. He tends to start with the part time staff and goes for the weak ones first. He is a predator that poaches perfectly content staff then infects them with his unhappiness and general disadain for life. Once that is achieved he turns the staff agaisnt the PD. It happened before and it looks like he is doing it again. This appears to be a pattern. Sociopath? I ain't all qualified or trained in the area but it fits the description to me. Chris Logan be wary of Chris "I sound Like I Read" Reed. Be prepared to change your call letters to K-HMS Bounty 107.9! RRRR matey!

:'( The latest in the building here on Bertrand Drive was last week with CJ blowing up again. Mr. Botox blew up about something with Grimsley and then went off in front of a few people here in the building saying that he would take the Polyester Power Hour and do it all day at 102.1 in Crowley. Is he welcome there? Debbie Ray had to calm him down. The morale continues to decline. Most everyone here wonders what is next. The 107.9 staff continues to backbite. They wonder when they will be switched to FM sports. That has been the latest talk on the sales side. The 97.3 staff seems to be holding its own though there is a little tension on that side as well. With CJ talking like that to our GM you know everyone here is whispering. We do that when Grimsley pays a visit to the show store in River Ranch but we play like we don't know. Hate to lose a job around Christmas. Maybe CJ will be the first. It's time.

Bottom line is this. What do the sales staff sell? Air time and the ratings. Who accounts for the ratings? The air personalities do. In other words, the sales staff sells the air staff. So why wouldn't the air staff be awarded as well? If not for the air staff, they would have nothing to sell. That is if ratings are good.

Don't let Jason Jennings see that....... ;D

So this drunken Irishman walks into a radio station _____? Come on, I know other people out there have some good stories about our GM. Everyone knows about the stash of hooch in his office. Irish eyes are smiling on ye ;)

I agree this was most likely a sales promotion and the sales team rung the bell and got the trip. The programming staff and the sales staff of every station have been battling since the first radio hit the air. Maybe this could have been handled a tad differently and the staff could have been part of the promotion or at least aware of it. Turn about is fair play so maybe the GM needs to put a programming promotion on the table that is tied to ratings. Hit the number and the programming staff gets something. Lots of ways to do this but mostly likely needs to be on a group number. Just a thought but numbers can be altered by promotion both on and off the air so budgets would have to come into play. Good luck guys and girls!

i have been a faithful listener of both citidel and regent (townsquare) for many years. the absolute best thing citidel every did was get "rid" of scott daniels and casey carter. it was utterly sickening to listen to them in the morning. ray and jenni are doing a better job, but not a huge fan of jenni, just can't get into her! jen @10 is a breath of fresh air to that station! that is exactly what citidel needed. someone young and refreshing! there is not day that she does not make me laugh. she is a bright spot to my day and i PRAY that citidel knows what they have with her. i used to listen to cj in the morning, then switch to kxkc for jen @ 10! no longer....i am just sick to my stomach of listening to cj whine and beg for anything and everything! and god help us all when shelly is on! congrats to citidel for hiring chuck woods. regent/townsquare should take some pointers from them! an earlier mail states employees of regent/townsquare are pissed because of the GM taking the sales peeps to vegas - doesn't cj / debbie ray / shelly and bernadette go on a cruise? who pays for that? give it a rest!

Voice tracking will solve all of your anger management issues.
Here's a bulletin for all you whiners:

NOTHING HAPPENS UNLESS SOMEONE SELLS SOMETHING!
no lights
no rent
no phones
no internet
no employees

The sales team has a hard enough job competing with the other radio groups in town, much less listening to you carping about a traded out trip.

By the way...you get a check no matter how the sales team performs during the month.
They get a commission for what they SELL.
A good month, more money...a bad month, not so much.

Voice tracking or syndication is a sure way to solve your anger problems about the sales dept.

I say kick back and see how well the sales department can voice-track, enter spots into the system, put together compelling promotions, commercials, select the right songs to play (and how often), then schedule a full day's music log. And when they fail at all those, they'll have a hard time selling, then no rent, no lights, no phones, no internet, no employees...

Outside voice tracking occurs all the time. sales promotions are usually put together because a client wants a promotion. RCS, Music Master, Prophet is so easy even a sales person can do it. Click on Schedule a log and there you go.

My point in all of this is...sales people generate the revenue which shows up in everyone's paycheck every two weeks.

There is absolutely no point in doing the rest of this if you are not making any money at at.

So if you can set the egos aside for just a moment, look at radio as a business. Everything you do should be to generate revenue for the company. Anything else is window dressing.

A station programmed by salespeople who learned how to play with Selector. Surely, a cume magnet.

There is no future in programming. Management wants the programming staff gone, and AFTRA doesn't want to represent you. If you want to bitch about the sales department getting all of the perks - GO INTO SALES! In my current organization when I notice that employees in other positions have it better than I do, I apply for their jobs. You chose a dead end career; deal with it.

Most people in programming do not have college degrees. Management knows this, and that's why they can get away with treating you like crap. Where you gonna go get a job? At the mall? Go to school, finish that degree, and improve your life. Stop the complaining.

I like your frame of mind, NewOrleansTCO. You are exactly right, people should make changes instead of bitching about stuff. I tell people that all the time. If you don't like it, change it... If you can't change it, find a place that suits your needs. You know, I was giving a speech at a college to the Radio/TV department and they asked me what they should do to be successful. I replied, "Change your major. You do not need a degree to do broadcast, however, you should have a solid degree to fall back on, in case broadcasting doesn't work out for you." It was shock and I've never been invited back. I did see one of the people in that class years later. She was a pharmacist. Told me that I gave the best advice she ever had in college.
