In Praise of KMX

It's only fair that I recognize good radio when it occurs. This morning KMX had Johnathan Baker, Seth and Willy Fred in studio as guests because of the DJ search. Those guys were fantastic! It was funny, smart and positive. Even with the continual buzzes from the equipment and the buzz kill of dissing people calling in birthdays, those guys were very good. Maybe KMX has found a new jock(s). Thanks, enjoyed it lots! If stupidjinny would post the website for the guys here I'd really appreciate it, that way all who didn't get a chance to listen would still have a chance to enjoy. Good radio!

Also to compliment KMX. Even though I would still say that they should not be all CHR, but they are, and as a CHR their music selection is much improved here lately over what it had been previously. Instead of rock, rock & more rock they now have a pretty nice mix of rock, pop & hip hop type music, much easier to listen too !!! My understanding is that there has been a change at P.D. (but I'am not sure) anyway whoever is doing the music In my opinion (whatever that's worth)it is much better.

Okay before I get ripped too pieces on this board & and fed to Michael Vicks dogs let me explain myself. WOOF is leaning more Hot AC than they have in the past and this may work well for them , hope it does more power to them. My argument is that they have done things a certain way for a long time & IT'S WORKED! Why change it? Also it sounds awful to hear Beyonce's Irreplaceable followed by Rod Stewart or Elton John. Not to mention the mellow liners and disc jockeys don't match some of the music. If your gonna make the music more upbeat then make the station more upbeat. WOOF may loose some of the listeners who prefer good ole regular AC to (& I hate to say it) but...The BREEZE. I know that The BREEZE ..blows, but WOOF is starting to make some wind too.

Actually too_long 103.9 dropped in the last book. And also not everything that came out in the 70's & 80's was rock. It just seemed to me that 103.9 had been playing more of the pop hit's of that era until just recently. Now I may just be imagining things, but if they are I think it's a bad programing move there is already a station that plays classic rock in this market.

Okay I did not know that Fergie and Beyonce' and etc. were on the AC charts I should have looked at that. I'll admit I did not know what I was talking about. I was just spewing off at the mouth (or actually I guess my fingers). HOWEVER as much as people in this market want it to be WOOF is not the Golden God of RADIO. Look I have the utmost respect for WOOF and it's employees I really really do, but I just have noticed that they seem to be playing more new music & I think it's a bad idea. I may be wrong but that's my perception & my opinion.

umm..let's what else...Oh yeah nobody said anything about WOOF programming for radio folks so...I don't know where that came from ???

And look I'am sorry but all this crap about WOOF being soooo.. consistent is really really getting soooo.. old. Consistency in radio means that you don't make major changes on a regular basis, It does not mean that you play the same liners for ten years!!!! I mean come on you got to admit the station could use some serious revamping I'am sure your listeners would appreciate something new for the first time ever!! I don't think WOOF is consistent so much as it is not creative. And I know what is about to happen every single one of you are going to point to the previous arbitron and say see..blah blah blah. Let's be completely honest with ourselves if your going to listen to A.C in this market how many stations do you have to choose from?

Again I have no problem with WOOF but it think it's only fair that I point out their flaws like I do everyone else, instead of just pretending like they are perfect.

Because when you've been the only game in town for a while & somebody else comes along doing the same thing some people will naturally gravitate that direction. So yes The BREEZE will hurt WOOF ,probably only a little bit, but you will loose some listeners. Hmm...I guess my prediction was not that wild after all ;D

NOT CLASSIC ROCK!! If they had intended to make it classic rock they would have just left it as Thunder, it would be a lot easier that way (after all this is Trajic & easy is what it's all about). So yes they are playing music from the decades that they are advertising, but they are not playing the music that they were intended to play. And by the way what sense does it make to have Casey Casum on a station that plays mostly classic rock.

yea its much better if you like slow garbage, c'mon headland get real, whoever is doing the music cant get enough of justin timerlake,nickelback, fergie, its played at least twice an hour and other artist just the same, oh by the way, every day more complaints than you can imagine come in, the station didnt improve for the second book because of just the music and it didnt improve with the garbage its playing now! it climbed because of the community involvement/jocks/ rock and more rock!!!(as you put it) if you knew anything on community programing not corprate as you are doing in P.C.B, (we know who you are), and the Propaganda you are spredding didnt work for tokoyo rose either, so stop patting your self on the back, if you tried to look at the station as a CHR you are looking at or were looking at the wrong station, just because you think the station should be a CHR, does not make it one, and KMX never claimed to be CHR they claimed to be Top 40/Alt (infact stations accross the nation are looking into that format.. i guesse kmx was ahead of the curve), thats what there LOCAL DEMO wanted, if there is no life in a station there is no HEART to it, it climbed because it had a HEART BEAT...now it's flatlinning and the community knows it. so my final words to you..lose the corprate thinking and learn how to be involved in the community, in another words..... local is better! always has been, always will be!

First of all you have NO idea who I'am-trust me!! Secondly calls came in complaining about the music when it was flipped from the OLD KMX & advertisers complaind & dropped advertisements it didn't phase u then why do you care now? Also you can be CHR and be local! And I won't deny your Top 40/Alt did pretty well amongst the younger demos-congratulations Squirrel! But in my opinion I think it will do better as a CHR (I may be wrong) but people like a little rhythm every now and then instead of just a bunch of rock songs that drone on & on and all sound the same. Why would you be a Hot AC? To many already. Not saying it's bad, I just dont like slow garbage(thats my opinion and my right to free speech) Second why are you trying to call somone out? Are sure you got the right guy,Also Squirrel as you put it,The last time i checked he still is the P.D and he wants out of it (for his own reason's) so check your facts mr smarty pants. When it flipped back when it dumped everyone is when the advertisers dumped it, When it went CHR, thats why no other reason!! Umm...Johnny there are no Hot AC stations in this market ;D And Hot AC is not really that slow, AC is slow (ex. WOOF) an Hot AC example; KMX daytime when still in Enterprise. So u need to get your formats straight! And as for why I would want an Hot AC station; THEY MAKE MONEY & LOTS OF IT!!! Unlike the current KMX whether it's CHR or Top 40/Alt it's billing a lot,lot less-of course that's just what I heard. And you may not be Squirrel I think he's probably cool enough not too use a line like "mr. smarty pants" But..hmm..then again you sure do use the word WE alot when reffering to KMX..I digress. Anyhow since you are so bold and daring who are u? And for that matter just who exactly do u think that I'am? I won't tell u by the way because it would ruin the fun, but i'am curious who think I'am ??? And as for whether or not Squirrel is still the P.D. your right I don't know for sure but whoever WAS doing the music is not anymore & that's a good thing I think ;D And as for CHR not doing good in the "investors books" explain Y102 (Montgomery), KIIS-FM(Los Angelos) WPFM (Panama City Beach Fla.) yes I know that these are in different markets but they are proven examples that a CHR can make MONEY if done right!! Do you have an example of a succesful Top 40/Alt station and don't say KMX because it (and this is just what i'am told) is BLEEDING RED :-\ Just think a 100,000 watts & NO profit ??? Of course Hot AC would make more than both, would you like an example hmm... how about the old WKMX. Which was of course Hot AC during the day & CHR POP by night. Peace-Johnny

Hey J2Step, seems you said "GAME ON" to me a few threads ago. Seems you've a large amount of pent up aggression? Relax, take a deep breath, don't take things so personally. People will generally be nice if you give them a chance. If you have the time to read through about 42 pages of these posts over the last 3+ years you'll notice that the Dothan market really blew up on the boards beginning with Broadway (out of the bus. for now) and the corn meal lady. That looks to be when thing really took a personal tone. Thats not constructive to anyone and will get this thread put into "board Time-out", again.

Ah, never mind, you guys go at it, it's kinda dull right now on the boards, I'll follow you two to the corner and sit in my chair as long as I can watch. Can we arrange for you two to meet on the UFC?
