Huh? There wouldn’t have been a possible Channel 6 in Atlanta due to the presence of Channel 5 (WAGA). In the analog days you couldn’t have first adjacent VHF signals in the same market unless there was a frequency gap between them, such as channels 4 and 5, or channels 6 and 7.CBS isn't clamoring for a duopoly in Atlanta, although it was noted in 1994 when WAGA jumped ship to Fox, CBS wanted to buy ch. 46 (them WGNX) and move it to channel 6. That was negated as two adjoining markets--Birmingham and Augusta--already had a channel 6.
The NYC and LA markets demonstrated this perfectly, having channels 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13 in the analog era.
