In the Los Angeles Market needs to start searching for a brand-new The CW West Coast Flagship Station

That would require CW to get new affiliates in Sacramento, Detroit, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago and Pittsburgh if CW is really serious about signing more sports contracts like NFL, MLB and NASCAR. It would have to be as big as the 1994-1995 deal when New World merged with Fox and converted former CBS affiliates WJW, WAGA, KTSP/KSAZ, KDFW, WITI, KTBC and one former ABC affiliate KTVI into Fox O&O's, and affiliates.

In this case stations like KMAX, WKBD, KBCW, WPCW, WPSG, would go against Sports Broadcasting contracts with the CW because of the CBS Sports contract and they are extensions of the main CBS O&O in those cities.

Sacramento CW would have to be on KTXL-TV 40.2 because 40.1 is a Fox Affiliate owned by Nexstar.
San Francisco KRON-TV gets the CW affiliates because of Nexstar having majority ownership of the CW.
Philadelphia WPHL-TV gets the CW for the same reasons like KRON San Francisco.
Chicago WGN-TV Same reason related to KRON, and WPHL-TV
Detroit WADL-TV? Note I was going to pick WMYD until I read about Scripps considering to get a Sports Broadcasting contract.
Pittsburgh WPNT (Sinclair owned My Network affiliate)

More on target before that was even confirmed. Now as a part of KRON getting the CW affiliation Paramount filed paperwork to the FCC to KPYX. In other words the soon to be former KBCW is going to be named after KPIX CBS Bay area.

Why would CW get into sports. Maybe lower tier leagues that nobody cares about. CBS/NBC/ESPN/Fox/WBD are not giving up their rights to the majors without a fight and a lot of money.

I could see NASCAR being the only league that might be in trouble, would Fox want to spend that much for a decline ratings.
The LPGA could be made available on a non-exclusive deal

Why would Nexstar end KTLA's status as a CW affiliate when they declared that they are the major owner of the CW.

The stations that need to watch out for their affiliation status with the CW are Paramount owned stations like KMAX Sacramento, KBCW San Francisco, WKBD Detroit given their recent decision to not air the LIV Golf tour on the CW due to their related company CBS Sports having contracts with the PGA Tour for the main CBS affiliates like KPIX, KOVR and WWJ.

The most popular scenario that was brought up is that in Chicago and San Francisco Nexstar would grab CW affiliations for WGN-TV and KRON.

And now Nexstar has released promos for Stations getting the CW affiliation. In this case KRON San Francisco is one of these Nexstar Owned stations flipping to the CW soon.

Paramount in response removed references to the CW for KPIX+ the station losing their CW affiliation. Yes the station will air primetime as soon as the CW contract expires.

What I don't get is WHY The CW is using NFL players to promote ACC College Football broadcasts
