Indefinite Vay Cay for Jay

Liberals don't want jobs in radio?

Jay's agent needs to answer what he intends to do if the suspension goes on indefinitely, zapping the 7-figure salary.

The beauty of it is that he hung himself with his own big mouth.

He didn't say anything he hasn't said at least twice last year. I thought it was odd they were making a big deal about what he said since I've heard him tell the same story a few times on air. It's apparent to anyone that has listened to him that they are looking to get out of his contract. Whether it be lesser ratings or the like, he gave them a skeet and they shot at it. Things get more offensive when you're not brining in enough money to make them forget you've said it ten times before.

tee-hee, this is like kittens rubbing up against your face...what a great thing

Today on Bowerino:

* What's your favorite color?
* Is American Idol better than Dancing With the Starts?
* Glue or Paste?

I didn't say anything disparaging about liberals or that they don't want jobs.

You missed some of the quote. "Well I think that he prefers music to talk. Also he is a liberal who used to refer to WTKK as "WKKK" when he was on the air at FNX. He had to hate working for Severin."

Don't you think he'd rather find a job anywhere else but with Jay?

Generally speaking, I agreed with Jay's politics but not at all with how he often articulated it. Media people are among the lowest forms of life walking the planet these days; it's Jay's misfortune to be the poster-child for that widely-held belief.

There are a couple Severin fan pages on Facebook (plus Jay's own FB page), Make Jay Severin Bowerless (started before he was let go) and Real Jay Severin Fan Page. As one might expect, rumors, just that-rumors- are being spread that Jay will "return to AM radio" ("RKO with McPhee?",
one fan asks) while one fan heard TKK run a Severin promo--and as you'd expect, it was probably a goofup on their part (like the WXKS old weather forecasts). I don't know if Jay would just stay off radio till '13 and still collect a salary via his contract and lawyers or whether he'd attempt to
get on RKO or XKS (BZ? Unlikely!) --certainly it wouldn't be for the money he was getting at 96.9 of course. Or would he turn up elsewhere--NYC? Satellite radio?

For all we know, Howie could turn up on 96.9 or 1200 by late next yr and RKO could go for the controversial Severin (or maybe put McPhee in pm drive and have Jay do middays--again, at considerably less than what he was making). Anyway, Jay's true believers are out there and holding out hope.

(Jay's former boss Paula O'Connor is now PD at 1200. Don't know how they got along. If Severin is
willing to take a big salary cut--like Manny Ramirez, who signed with the T Bay Rays for one TENTH the salary the Sox had paid him, 2000-08; but wound up retiring etc), would 1200 throw him on pm drive and delay Hannity till 6? Again, doubtful, but who knows.)

Would advertisers buy spots if so? A longshot, if true. If anything the FB members on the pages I mentioned plus on TKK's FB page are not happy, incl some who are now upset Hendrie's gone too; more than a few "I won't listen to 96.9 now" viewpoints.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to compare Jay to Manny. I doubt Jay would even endorse steroid use... ::)
