I've got no major problem with stations wanting to run paid stuff to pay the bills. SO long as they don't try to pretend it's anything other than paid. WGST made no major effort to hide that they were running paid stuff. WSB has avoided mentioning the topic. I was never clear if the Alan Hunt show was running paid or not.
The problem with 106.7 is that they've spent their entire marketing effort telling us they are all news -and then doing precisely something else. So much for branding.
The Allen Hunt Show doesn't run as a paid advertisement. You don't hear at the top of every hour during the show, "The following opinions don't necessarily reflect those of News/Talk WSB-AM/WSBB-FM, its staff, management, or parent company Cox Media Group". Plus, Allen Hunt is part of the staff, and his show doesn't syndicate anymore. It's strictly local. News/Talk WSB/WSBB may have avoided mentioning the topic of paid advertisements, but they do air some key shows that may very well be paid advertisements. Here are the schedules for Sunday morning along with late Sunday night/early Monday morning:
SUNDAY MORNING BLOCK
6:00 A.M.-6:30 A.M. Perspectives with Condace Pressley (Public Affairs)
6:30 A.M.-7:00 A.M. The Lutheran Hour with Pastor Ken Klaus (Religious)
7:00 A.M.-7:30 A.M. Day One (Religious)
7:30 A.M.-8:00 A.M. LIVE Service from First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta (Religious)
LATE SUNDAY NIGHT/EARLY MONDAY MORNING BLOCK
12:00 A.M. (12 Midnight)-12:30 A.M. Perspectives with Condace Pressley (Rebroadcast)
12:30 A.M.-1:00 A.M. Parenting Solutions with Bob Lancer (Advice Show)
1:00 A.M.-1:30 A.M. Business in the Black with Twanda Black (Public Affairs)
1:30 A.M.-2:00 A.M. The Heart of Atlanta with Mo Reilley (Public Affairs)
AFAIK, the folks at News/Talk WSB/WSBB do not say exactly at the beginning and/or end of each paid advertisement and religious programming the statement, "The following opinions don't necessarily reflect those of News/Talk WSB-AM/WSBB-FM, its staff, management, or parent company Cox Media Group", or anything similar to that. Anyway, that is all.
