Is anyone here familiar with an artist named Inna? I just discovered her song "Hot" and I love it. She is from Romania and that song was #1 in several Eastern European countries.
Romania has undoubtedly become the capital of commercial Euro-Dance over the past couple of years. The record that probably put Romania on the map was Ozone's "Dragostea Din Tei".
Clearly most of these records have a very similar sound. They've taken elements from minimalistic Progrssive House (those pads you hear), and added a lot of commercial Euro melodies and lyrics to them. Many of these songs tend to have the same type of syncopated beat, and similar melodies.
Thanks for all those links. I didn't realize that Romania was the new epicenter of Eurodance, I listened to them all and my two favorites are Inna's "Hot" and "Love". The combination of her powerful, hyperfeminine vocals mixed with the music (yes the beat is very similar on most of these songs) gives a high to my brain. Watching the clips I can't help but notice how beautiful Inna is. I wonder if she will ever have a hit in the U.S,? especially with the recent increased popularity of dance music.
