From a demographics standpoint, they are the most at risk versus NOW and FRESH.

True. Perhaps the special weekend on CBSFM is a goodbye. Gonna happen sooner or later.
Here's the kicker:DToTheJ said:I don't know if there are any open allotments among the FM band in New York that would be desirable enough for an AM station to go all-in for a translator. I guess it's a Florida thing...
For most people, that number is only three.BruceS8852 said:I question the need for four sports stations in NYC. Will there be enough listeners for:
660 AM - CBS Sports
1050 AM - ESPN Desportes
98.7 FM - ESPN New York
102.7 FM - WFAN
Bruce
OR Bring back the WNBC Call Sign on 660 and Flip to The AM 50 & 60's Oldies Format (The Time Machine is what I am thinking)would be a great compliment to Classic Hits on CBS-FM.BruceS8852 said:I question the need for four sports stations in NYC. Will there be enough listeners for:

I can see visualize Big Jay smiling at that suggestion.Just Me said:OR Bring back the WNBC Call Sign on 660 and Flip to The AM 50 & 60's Oldies Format (The Time Machine is what I am thinking)would be a great compliment to Classic Hits on CBS-FM.BruceS8852 said:I question the need for four sports stations in NYC. All valid points. However, CBS-FM is on 101.1 FM which is short spaced to 101.1 Philadelphia, creating reception issues in Central NJ. 101.1 FM NY wouldn't be a good spot for a simulcast of WFAN or WCBS-AM. For that reason, I don't see CBS blowing up CBS-FM.![]()
Just Me said:Let's say I am the Person in Charge of making the Decision of which of CBS's Three FM's I Flip Formats on...I decide to leave CBS-FM As Is CBS-FM has the Ratings of my other 2 Stations Combined.
Now Let's Look at CHR...Let's assume my listeners of WXRK (In the Least Loyal of Demographics) gets evenly split among Z-100,KTU and BLS only Z-100 is in a Position to move into #2 Possibly Dropping CBS-FM to #3 (Worst Case). That's a Chance I am willing to take.
What chance am I not willing to take? Flipping FRESH and Giving Clear Channel LITE FM a SOLID #1 in the Market.
I Predict those in charge at CBS would also choose to BLOCK LITE FM and Drop CHR than to let CC have an 11 or 12 Share and have CBS-FM is 2nd 5-6 Points Behind Lite FM when it is easier to slip to 3rd and be 7/10ths of a share behind Z-100 then to be 6 Share Behind a 12 Share #1 Station.I'd also be willing to bet it is an easier sell for the FRESH Format than the CHR.
