Internet Radio in Houston

Absolutely! Rowdy has a great radio station and he does a great job bringing local content back to the Sugar Land. No slam intended toward Rowdy! He's a great guy and does a great job with Radio Sugar Land.

Well it had to happen. Somebody went and built a real commercial internet radio station here in Houston. Check it out at www.dxsradio.com

I clicked on LISTEN LIVE and I get "unknown file type listen.pls?"

Radio SugarLand works very well. No problems.

DXSRADIO.COM is still in beta mode so there will be some snags. One thing is that you currently need a FREE player from www.real.com. Once that is installed you should have no problem listening. We will have our own player embedded in the site in a few days. Once that happens it will load much easier.

This is like building a new kind of radio station and I am excited about the possibilities. Hopefully the input will be constructive about the content so that we can really build something great.

I would have waited on annoucing the site then. People are picky and if something doesn't work perfectly the first time then they usually don't come back. Great effort though but even Internet Radio has huge competition and getting caught not ready for prime time isn't good.

Internet Radio definately has its quirks, but once you explain to folks that you can listen to radio on a computer (and can get past the corporate firewall blocks) it's great! I've definately had fun with my litttle web station!

Good luck Dave!

The internet is still new uncharted waters with many places to visit and listen. Of course, there will be bugs. They WILL get worked out. Plus with the advent of Wi-Fi radio, it will be accessible anywhere.

Dave is a pro and it will be good! He'll see to that. Good luck Dave. I'll be listening.

Tell meif I'm goofy but I envision a network of local internet station forming! Todd Nixon, Rowdy Yates, myself and other professional broadcasters putting together a pod of stations and sharing the advertising revenue that can be generated. Lets be honest, it will take a heap of money to properly market our stations and make them attractive to advertisers.

I think we need a sit-down boys! We're on to something here! And Chuck Tiller; Thanks for your kind words!

Dave, that sounds like a good idea to get it cranking. Get a good salesman to to sell a plan for advertisers to be on all or some of the stations. Collaboration time!

I am honestly and quite happily surprised.
You (in the plural form, of course) have figured out the future and acted on it.
Wi-FI audio systems are in the wings. They're just not viable yet. It seems the first steps have been taken tword that goal. It ain't just laptops, my friends.
You guys can count on my support!

I am launching a teen-run radio & media program at a YMCA. We'll be launching our internet station later in the year.

Dave,,looks and sounds great!! I'll be listening. I've got something in the works too, and I'll want to talk to you about it in the near future. Looks like we may have to have a get together with me, you, Rowdy and Todd. Strength in numbers you know.

Take care,
Steve Rixx

Sure! Cat's stream is offline and moving to my own server along with the website, and I just sent off the primary LPB for YATR (Yet Another Transistor Replacement). I sent it off this time so that maybe someone could tell me why I blow them out once a week, beginning to wish I had tube transmitters... I have a new location in downtown Bellville for carrier current, but no transmitter to put there so if anyone has any spare LPB or RSI units laying around or even parts for them, I really could use them! I'll admit that the Part-15 rules make it really hard to cover much ground unless you spend $1000+ each on Rangemasters and sync them every 2-3 miles, so I'll keep going with cc unless the KNUZ deal becomes a reality. There is another individual with donation cans all over Bellville raising money for a community radio station, I have spoken with him and he believes an LPFM is possible here, but I don't see anything available this close to Houston. If Roy Henderson reads this, and *IF* the commision would bless the sale, I would still buy the station from him (if the license is saveable), but not at the ridiculous price he wanted 3 years ago... Whadda say Roy, how about doing something good for the community?

Dave... What format is this supposed to be serving?? I heard Montgomery Gentry into the Smashing Pumpkins... Are you stunting or is this some type of electic "Jack" type format??

I like the idea.. just wondering!

Media Mogul: That's the format. A Country/Rock kind of thing. I happen to like both formats and there is lots of cross-over within each format. BonJovi has proven that a couple of time throughout their (his) career. I wouldn't go so far as to call this a "Jack" type of format. It's really pretty focused on the two genres. The library will expand in those directions.

Still working bugs out of the equipment and getting the songs coded properly so that train-wreck seques can be avoided! If you hear one I'm probably already on it. But feel free to drop me and email to let me know!

this is bigjohn dakota and i think the station sounds great dave e.
