To say the most successful FM talk station in the country isn't a big deal since there are so few of them.
The point to pick-up on is that the most successful FM talk station in the nation is here in New Jersey, based in market #130-whatever. It isn't in NYC, it's not in L.A., it's not in Chicago, not in Dallas, not in Boston. It's in podunk Trenton, NJ. The point to pick-up on is that the most successful FM talk station in the country is live and local 24/7 and has more news people than anyone else in the state. The CBS's and Clear Channel's of the world dump syndicated crap on the air with maybe one news person for a 6-station cluster and then wonder why it gets a 1.8 12+.
WABC is the most successful talk station in the nation and a former PD from there is now at a NY FM talk station. 101.5 will see this change as more talk leave the AM band for FM and more talk FM formats are developed on FM due to the competetion from Sirius and XM. How many other FM talk stations are there in NJ with 50,000 watts? I guess 101.5 wins by default here. That's why people have to look at the B.S. nonsense put out by eats and star.
I'm not following your line of thought here. You're proving my own point by saying more FM talk stations are being developed. None of them have even come close to 101.5. There are no other FM talk stations in NJ, so they win by default anyway??? B.S.? Don't think so. And didn't KFI/Los Angeles grab the "most listened to" AM station title a couple years ago, even for only a brief time?
WABC is the nations top talk station and that's the real story.
Yes, it is. I said "FM." It's the letter "F" followed by "M." As in frequency modulation. Don't think I ever said just "talk station."
As far as remembering Judi saying FU on the air it was well discussed on many forums. Since Eats and Star seem to be acting as the P.R. people can they answer some simple questions.
Me, a P.R. person? Don't think so. Want me to be anti-PR? Fine: NJ 101.5 isn't anything like what is used to be a few years ago. Everyone in this state wants political reform, property tax reform, ethics reform, and no one does anything about it. It wasn't that long ago that 101.5 lead the charge to get Florio not re-elected. If the station wants to be the true champion of the Garden State, it needs to go back to what it did a number of years ago - stand up, lead the fight, and don't back down.
Was there a fine for the FU incident ? How much was it and did they also include the South Jersey station that it was also broadcasted on ?
Why are you so obsessed with this? Did you file a complaint with the FCC? Do you have tape of it to back-up your claim? If no one complains, no fine can be levied! Seems like this is something you should give up on. The most listened to FM (take note: there's those two letters again) talk station in the country dropped the F-bomb and no one cared!!! It's New Jersey - they teach the F-word to kids in 1st grade.
