Is Kevin Fennessy still around?

I have a fine life, sir. It appears that you are one who doesn't have one, since you have to come on a forum like this and discuss someone's personal life. You were the one coming out swinging. Kevin wasn't. This may be your first experiences on this board, and I hope they will be your last. Someone of your caliber is one of the reasons why this business is full of hatred. You befriend someone like Kevin, then you screw the guy over. That proves how much a man you really are not. [EDIT]. Go away.

[EDIT=name calling, inflammatory]

I have sat back and read this bickering between two good broadcasters that have been friends for years.

YES... Joe Reilly has done favors for Kevin. I know. BUT... Kevin Fennessey has not always been the smartest businessman either. Kevin has admitted that to me as well.

BUT... gentlemen, both of you are friends of mine. I respect your differences that you have between each other; and you both have operations in the same backyard. YES... Joe may have the upperhand by having an AM and FM. But, Joe... Kevin introduced you to the area so you could purchase your first station and you have built that station up from the ruins that it's former ownership(s) didn't know how to be successful and put by-gones behind you.

Kevin, you have tried your darndest in making radio fun in Berwick. Having ABC News, NASCAR (formerly), Berwick High Sports, Midget Football, and other such staples has helped you stay afloat. You have been a wonderful friend and a person that has helped me in times of need. Kevin and Joe both have "a heart of gold" in helping colleagues out when in need and they can do so.

You have even done so for each other. As competitors, I admire that.

But, your friendship should always remain at the forefront. Yes, competition is / can be good to have. But, it has become too personal. It's not worth it.

It doesn't matter "Where all the good songs have gone..." or whether the station is Number 1 in Columbia County. You need to focus on making radio the focus of your listeners ears and dials. Yeah, both stations have differentiating aspects in regards to programming; but, use those differences on the stations and capitalize on them.

Yes... I want you guys to get your acts together as friends and grow stronger together. We don't know how long our time on earth is; but, life is too short to pass on with such strong animosity toward each other that it kills one or both of you. That's a sin!

I am not the most perfect person on this earth, nor do I proclaim to be. You both know who I am and know where I stand. So, please... work things out.

Radioboss: Excellent post. Very well thought out.

I have known Kevin for over ten years. He has never claimed to be a smart businessman. However, if it wasn't for Kevin, I wouldn't be in broadcasting today. He practically saved me from the lies and deceit created about me by the former spiteful and evil owners of WSER (now WSRY) in Elkton, Maryland.

I don't know Mr. Reilly and, as of right now, I have no interest in meeting the guy. I only know of him through Kevin. Kevin did introduce him to the area and helped him get a station back on the air. But then Mr. Reilly stabs Kevin in the back, most recently with the worthless posts on this board...and with this "competition" garbage. It's immature and silly. There is no such thing as "competition" in that area. I just wish the guy can figure out what format he wants to put on the AM station...either it's "news radio" or an oldies format. As far as I know, the station is being billed as "news radio," but the station features oldies music. That's an indentity crisis, if you ask me.

Radio in this area would be FAR better off without the likes of Fennessey or Reilly around. They are both big blasts of hot air that produce nothing valuable.

MACK184,

I personally & professionally do not agree with your post about BOTH of them being "big blasts of hot air that produce nothing valuable". That is further from the truth.

They have both done a lot for their respective COL's in Northeast PA. When you finally own a station (legal and not just a Part 15) and have stations going up against you, then, you MIGHT have the testicular fortitude to qualify with a response such as the one you have made against these fine broadcasters.

Testicular fortitude.. never heard that phrase used until I spent time here. I learn something here every day!

The poison that Mack184 is spewing out on this board is pure jealousy. Nothing but jeaousy. Mack: Get over yourself pal.

Kevin Started It

Shawn:

It appears to be a schoolyard fight - with different people siding with their friends.

I don't know either one personally but in reading this thread, it is apparent to me that Fennessey threw the first punch:
I have visited this board almost daily, and have followed everybody blowing smoke under the skirt of one of the other area owner/operators. He didnt tell any lies, but there were several omissions about one of the local owners that may challenge his diety:

1) I was personally resaponsible for the identification of two radio licenses in trouble and was proactive in rescuing those licenses, mine and a future competitor's.
2) The competing radio station was founded utilizing a business model conceived and deployed at WFBS.
3) After helping another area radio station launch, that operator turned on me, took their radio station in head to head format competition with WFBS, determined that the shortest route to profitability as a stand-alone was to raid what billing was on WFBS.
4) This particular operator raided WFBS of sales and on air talent, and in one particular case, disposed of that person once he succeeded in separating them from WFBS.
5) This particular operator went on the streets of Berwick, telling business people that, rather than my being in the hospital having open heart surgery, I was in jail for supposedely physically assaulting my wife, who is an ordained minister. Simultaneously, he attempted to broker a deal with one of WFBS's investors, to acquire the station for pennies on the dollar. This while I was recouperating in New York.

This fellow may be under the impression that he has won your respect, but his money and prowess has only made people fear him...he has purchased and maneuvered his way to what appears to be an enviable position of power, which his out of control ego craves.

You can tell a lot about a person by the way he treats his friends.

Then Reilly replied in kind. Then everybody else jumped in. Clearly, Fennessey has more friends in this school than Reilly. My reading: Two former friends had a falling out and each feels betrayed. Let them work it out. But don't blame Reilly for "bashing" Fennessey under an "anonymous name" when (a) Fennessey started it and (b) both use handles and Reilly's signature gives his name.

I have no dog in this fight. I have no idea what the facts of the dispute are and who is right or wrong. I only observe based on what is in this thread.

Dude, you really need to get over it, bury the hatchet and get healthy!

Joe Reilly

Hey Joe aka Bobby Hatfeild, wasn't it Kevin who told you you sounded like hell at WBAX and to get out ASAP from Dick Booth, but WAMS had already replaced you?

So we did answer the fundamental question, right? Kevin Fennessey is still around. I think our work is done here.
