It's CC so you would think. It's only one of two Top 10 BA affiliates left. Plus it's already on the bird. Concerned though that their website is dated. News from January 31. There's no reference to Ramsey Lewis doing their morning show. Is he? They promote his "Legends of Jazz" and interestingly they link you to his morning show via WNUA's website. I'd say KKSF is safe since they have no local staff to blow out. I agree with another poster that only if a hot hot format they can move in could replace this format on this station would they flip. The major defections haven't been CC stations, so if a major market CC station bows out at this time, the damage control angle by BA (see the latest R&R Online) will have to be on full throttle for a while. I don't see a "CC bird" going out because they wouldn't be doing the traditional staff blowout. My eyes are on Philly to go all BA and a non-CC market flipping, like Columbus OH, which needs something else to do with their station and there are competitive format holes in that town.

Maybe KKSF should flip to Country to compete with The Wolf and KRTY. Are you ready for
"103-7 The Bull?"

Just my two cents!

103.7 The Bull!

I can see thier TV commercial right now.....

A Bull mauling a Wolf out in the forrest. That would be awesome.
So they can get 0.7 of the wolf's listeners?

CHR-Pop for SF! Or Whatever else they're missing right now. haha. Maybe like another Country Format to take on THe Wolf. I hope a CHR. but They've already got 2 CHR Rhythmics & a Hot A/C. Who knows. Maybe they could have Q 103.7 or Z 103.7 or K103.7 or something along those lines. But i don't get how smooth jazz isn't doing well. It's weird how all of them are disappearing. Why is that?

I think a lot of these Smooth Jazz outlets that are flipping are making a huge mistake by flipping the format all together. Take KKSF for example. In this market, KOIT an AC (and not a very good one at that) is near the top! What does that tell a PD that's paying attention?

To me it says....Reposition! Smooth Jazz is a very confined positioning name/title/logo for the format. KKSF already plays a lot of AC stuff along with the jazzier stuff. It's a good sound, but people might not tune in long enough to understand how good it really is because of the way it's positioned? A listener could pretty much keep it on all the time, which is key to advertisers? (office, car, kids, etc)

So, why wouldn't they remove the "Smooth Jazz" moniker and go after KOIT with a 60/40 mix of cool AC and select jazzy stuff? 106_9 KIFR is kind of on track with the name...Groovin 103.7.

It just seems that done right, an AC/Jazzy station might do well in almost any market?

Yes a CHR Pop station is exactly what CC wants to do. Bring in a station to compete with KYLD which is struggling with any kind of consistency at tht moment. Like ive said before, if you want a Pop station...listen to WILD! Jordin Sparks, Maroon 5, Gym Class Heroes, Natasha Bettingfield, etc are all in or were in rotation. They are seriously teasing a Jonas Brothers concert. They had Rihanna headline their most recent Bomb concert as opposed to E40 the year before. Dance music and mashups are constantly in their mixes. Tell me what it is in a pop station youre looking for that they arent doing? Do you want them to replace T-Man with Ryan Seacrest? They arent going to stop playing E40 and Pitbull if thats what youre shooting for.
