The funny thing is the tweaks Rock 100.5 has made during the last month might be what it takes to draw listeners over there. I know I've liked the changes since the infusion of newer music and have found myself tuning in more. Still would like to see 103.7 out of Athens go all Sports Talk since 95.5 is already news talk.

You guys are really behind. The changes have been in place for about a month now. Ask Rodney Ho. Sounding way better than before. Garage, a little bit of hair metal, and grunge to dust 99xers with. I dig it.

Let me preface the following by saying that I'm a huge alternative and rock fan...
Regarding the part about satiating former 99X listeners: doesn't it stand to reason that if 99X'ers constituted a substantial enough base to support a radio station...then perhaps 99X itself would still be around (on a non-translator)? If there's any lingering question, Dave FM answered it for us by basically functioning as 99X v2.0, right down to the morning show, for the last few years through this November or so. That obviously didn't work out.
Maybe the current mix of rock is the right one. Maybe not. During Rock 100.5's four-year aimless sojourn, River, Project and to a lesser extent Dave have stuck to their guns and carved out loyal listeners. WNNX has shifted its focus more times than I can count. Their current incarnation, for better or worse, reminds me of their music mix at launch.
In recent years, Star 94 and The Bull have proven that with the right leadership and programming changes, mediocre-performing stations can rise to the top. But I can't help wondering if Rock 100.5 has used up its chances and doubting that these tweaks are enough to get listeners to suddenly care.
