Is Russ Martin losing his touch?

Russ wins by default, and that sums up radio today.
SO TRUE!! Thank goodness someone gets it. To win by default is to ultimately lose when real talent comes along.

And if they happen to stumble upon an actuall funny bit, they'll play and discuss it endlessly... for days.
You have hit the nail on the head. I'm tired of him rerunning every bit over and over just to fill/kill time. It's sad.

I think you(trickortreatise) need to be put outta your misery by JD's bunny board. Russ' show is the most creative show out right now and most if not all of the posters on this site wish they had his show. So shut ya yap and change the station if ya dont like the show.
So, you're the authority on creativity with a post like that? I think not. By the way, the 'change the station if ya don't like the show' comment is just a smoke-screen typically used when a person has no real argument. :)

I love it when people say that the "change the station" statement just means you have nothing to back up your argument. Lets see do any of you remember any of the parody 911 calls, how bout all the parody songs , and learning to play an instrument and sing, so you can start and lead your own band. WOW that must be no talent at all. Russ Martin is not my hero for all that think it but he is my favorite radio show. Do any of you remember the Hot TV hot Tickets days. I'm sure it took some talent to write and edit all that production for the tv show. I really have to wonder if ANY of you have ever worked in the business because you seem to have forgotten what a show meeting or even a production meeting is. These ideas dont come from a "book of bits". If they did he deffinately would have lost his touch a long time ago because every show would have already done what he does to get #1 numbers. We live and die by the numbers and if you dont produce you dont eat!

Ahhhh did ya see the trend that came out yesterday???? a really bad day over at Live. And I'm not talkin 12+ numbers...I saw the break downs.

Russ' Production meeting is more like a few beers some burgers slammed down. The results: some burps, some dead air, and the dusted off bits. He still wins by default, because there is literally nothing to listen to during his time period,in regards to dfw radio.

Why dont they just offer Big Dick Hunter and the WAC his slot, he seems to be doing a much more intelligent and engaging show on both his weekend and holiday fill-in slots as of late. No offense to russ, but the whole schtick has gotten old. Either time for him to retire and run his bar/grill or move to sat, where he can work his material w/o turning off the mics.

As much as I hate that arrogant a-hole "Big Dick Hunter", I almost agree with you. That says a lot for how much I dislike RMS these days. Big D is too busy name-dropping and talking to himself about himself to notice that he has two of the most retarded sidekicks in the area. :)

At least BDH can put together something like a live nativity scene together in three days, where it takes RMS over a month to run a halloween bit. I agree on the retardation factor of his on-air cadre', but its more engaging radio than hear russ prattle on about "Hee Haw Plates"

I don't think Russ is losing his touch - he's keeping his touch. That is simply what Russ does. I like Russ just fine, personally. But I'm not sure how much "creativity" is required to belch and talk about strippers.

The thing about BDH on WAC (I hate when he calls it 'WAC', by the way....too L.A. sounding)....is that they are SOOOOO impressed with their own ideas that they ramble on about how cool their idea is and that's not for them to decide. Let the listeners do that, I say. The so-called 'after party' is lame also because WHO CARES!!!??? :)
