Is there such a thing as a "zombie" radio station?

I've never heard a station "die" and come back to life as much as Cumberland University's "campus" station WFMQ 91.5 FM. This station has been alternating from silent to running country or bluegrass for the past few years (mostly silent), with no jocks, just some old guy with one of two IDs: "This is WFMQ, The Voice of the Bulldogs, Lebanon, Tennessee" or "This is WFMQ, The Voice of the Phoenix, Lebanon, Tennessee". It's practically one month on and three months off.

The first ID obviously refers to the school's athletic mascot, while the second refers to the image on the school's actual logo, and used as an alternate logo on the baseball jerseys.

Should the FCC pull the plug on them for looking like their trying to beat the system, or do they not care because it a non-comm?

The station's own description on MySpace: WFMQ is a free-form radio station. The DJ's decide what to play, and when to play it. As long as it conforms with the FCC regulations, WFMQ will play it. (http://www.myspace.com/wfmq)

"When" must be the operative word here.

Have you tried these alternatives for Zombie Radio?:

No political advertising on Zombie Radio, however, as Zombies are only interested in something with brains...

Rules out Clear Channel Radio! LOL!

I figured that K-Love stations qualify as "zombie stations" since they are nothing but a transmitter plugged into a sat dish.
