Is velma as bad as people make it out to be?

American Dad isn’t as bad 😂. Velma is a little bit more adult aimed than American Dad or Family Guy.
I think what is bothering people is that it’s based on Scooby and the gang. Think of it as someone making a series named BUGS or MOUSE.

Ive watched a few episodes and it doesnt seem too bad to me. Its about on par with some not top of the line american dad episodes to me. Thoughts?
It's been politicized, plain and simple. No different than a whole host of other stuff that's mostly benign and harmless, but each time the modern-day republicans see it, they clutch their pearls in horror and scream that it's the worst thing ever, and the biggest detriment to children, families, the planet, life in general, blah, blah, blah... Because it's what their politicians, "news" channels and talk hosts of choice have told them that's what they must believe.

Kudos to you for seeing it for yourself and watching it objectively without allowing your own sense of judgement and common sense to be clouded by the political talking heads.

I remember in the past year I heard Ron Desantis fans get all riled up with the remake of Disney's Little Mermaid for 2023 audiences. It was centered around Ariel his fans and some of them claimed "Woke Agenda" for talking points for Ron Desantis to please the Mike Lindell, "Freedom Caucus wing of Congress" and Trump fans.

“I wasn’t anticipating that because, in a way, I felt like we’ve moved so far past that kind of thing,” Marshall said. “But then you realize, in a way we haven’t. It was very moving to me to see how important this kind of casting is for the world.”

Bolstered by toxic fans on social media, the hashtag #NotMyAriel sprung up on Twitter after Bailey’s casting was first announced. The actor told Variety that her family helped her drown out the backlash. Bailey’s grandparents shared their own memories with her of the racism and discrimination that they had endured in their lifetimes.

“It was an inspiring and beautiful thing to hear their words of encouragement, telling me, ‘You don’t understand what this is doing for us, for our community, for all the little Black and brown girls who are going to see themselves in you,’” Bailey said.

First of all so what the director and producers got a call from upper management at Disney to rewrite The Little Mermaid for newer audiences. Its like the time Disney remade Ducktales to attract newer audiences to that show. But for some reason Little Mermaid got politicized.

Crazy how that same crowd always tries to make the point that they "don't see color" and criticize identity politics.

it's not just politics that has people hating it, it's just they hate this "Harley Quinn" approach to a beloved show of one's childhood and people feel they are b******izing a iconic brand which the kids watch but the adults watched knowing that the Shaggy character was clearly a stereotypical stoner.
