It's been politicized, plain and simple. No different than a whole host of other stuff that's mostly benign and harmless, but each time the modern-day republicans see it, they clutch their pearls in horror and scream that it's the worst thing ever, and the biggest detriment to children, families, the planet, life in general, blah, blah, blah... Because it's what their politicians, "news" channels and talk hosts of choice have told them that's what they must believe.Ive watched a few episodes and it doesnt seem too bad to me. Its about on par with some not top of the line american dad episodes to me. Thoughts?
I remember in the past year I heard Ron Desantis fans get all riled up with the remake of Disney's Little Mermaid for 2023 audiences. It was centered around Ariel his fans and some of them claimed "Woke Agenda" for talking points for Ron Desantis to please the Mike Lindell, "Freedom Caucus wing of Congress" and Trump fans. It's been politicized, plain and simple. Bolstered by toxic fans on social media, the hashtag #NotMyAriel sprung up on Twitter after Bailey’s casting was first announced. The actor told Variety that her family helped her drown out the backlash. Bailey’s grandparents shared their own memories with her of the racism and discrimination that they had endured in their lifetimes.
“It was an inspiring and beautiful thing to hear their words of encouragement, telling me, ‘You don’t understand what this is doing for us, for our community, for all the little Black and brown girls who are going to see themselves in you,’” Bailey said.
