They're on the boards...I agree the Jones lineup is certainly better than much of what's on Air America. Even though I don't always agree with Ed Schultz, I have always said on this board that he and Stephanie were the 2 prog-talkers that I thought had the best shot at success.
I never suggested 'VKO should be focused on "beating" TVN...that ain't gonna happen. Signal will keep it from happening. They are 5 KW at the low end of the band...VKO is 3.something at the very high end of the band where AM is the least efficient. Signal beats signal unless 'TVN really screws up (which, even with some of the recent cuts I don't expect to see happen). But, you never focus on low-hanging fruit on the tree...you shoot for the coconuts at the top. And since the station had a somewhat rocky start, aiming for TVN is the overall goal to shoot for, even if it's not practically possible. (That's just competitive sense...) But yes, you must crawl before you can walk.
Glad to hear they're attracting advertisers...if the ratings development continues at a steady pace, they should do OK.
I'm sure the Clippers broadcasts are attracting some advertising, too...in the fall, they should be planning some high school sports broadcasts, even if the night signal's weakness means you replay the game, say...on Saturday morning to keep advertisers happy.
