I may be in the minority here but I didn't miss JD Ryan not being there at all. After he got sober and found God I no longer found him funny - just annoying. I think this morning's show flowed much better without him. Other than that it was awesome to hear the guys back on the air! Definitely my new morning show. Russ 6-10, Pugs 10-12, Bad Radio 12-3 and The Hardline 3-7. ;D

My car radio was left on 97.1 from the weekend, so I accidentally caught a few minutes. Same old, same old. If you loved RMS before, you'll love it now. If you are not a fan of mind-numbingly dull inside jokes punctuated by belching and dead air, don't bother.

He's got a few old sponsors back. He pranked David Henry at CBS with his car alarm thing. I am sure he'll be trying to get gavin as time goes on. Be kinda hard though considering he's in Houston.

I enjoyed the entire show today. I enjoy listening to the conversation between the guys and occasional bits with them. Russ isn't predictable like most shows. That is why I like the show........

Has Russ Martin ever done something that wasn't funny?

Man, it really was great to be back in the tree house. There was a little rust, but it wore off more and more with each segment. I was really curious to see if there would be a new approach, but it picked right back up where it left off. Great for the fans, more banter for the rest.
The greatest thing about not being a bitter poster who can't get a paying job in radio anymore? They give those of us who are merely fans of radio PPM's! That is what will ultimately decide the longevity of the RMS. If I had time to kill I would dig up some of the old posts from the naysayers who said he wouldn't ever work in this market again. Why waste the time though? They'll continue with the "he's a jerk," radio is that dumb" comments ad nauseum. We're supposed to believe the show sucks and will be taken back off the air comments from the same people who said the RMS wouldn't ever air in DFW again.
One thing you guys need to understand. I don't care if the bits are fake. He always said everything was a bit anyways. It's radio... theatre of the mind. One of the many reasons people like me prefer the radio medium over television. I don't care if he's a jerk. I don't care if he personifies white trash. I don't care about any past criminal history. I don't care about him screwing over past co-workers. I don't care about dead air. I don't care that you don't understand the inside jokes. I'm a listener of radio who likes to laugh. He makes me laugh. I listen to the show from the second it signs on until the second it ends. I will continue to listen and support the sponsers of the show.
What do I know though? I only have a few posts so apparently Russ sent me here. Of course maybe I only have a few posts because I have only visited this site hoping for news of his return? Then possibly discovered that this site was crawling with people who's bitterness/hatred of him was so bad I never saw the point?
I would have thought that this guy was good for the market and the state of radio? I mean it's the first time I've gotten up early just for radio. Local radio at that. With the state of radio what it is and companies deciding to steer away from local talent more and more, you'd figure anyone that could get people like myself interested in radio again would be a good thing for all of you.

YES! I admit it! I tuned in! But I never heard Martin. It was an "Eagle Free Flight" of 25 spots in a row, 6:55 to at least 7:05, and I gave up after that. That alone tells me that the spotload will make anything on the station unlistenable. Remember what 105.3 did to Stern, pulling the same stunt. If I'm going to tune out for 10-15 minutes to avoid spot marathons, I'll likely stay wherever I tuned away to. Speaking of, Bo and Jim sounded GREAT this morning! First time to listen in quite a while.
Yeah he really cares about this "MESSAGE BOARD"!!! All 10-15 people. Hahahahahahahaha!!!! A message board full of has been, never will be, or wish they could of! Yeah you got me Russ called me personally and said hey go post on a MESSAGE BOARD. Today's show is also great. SO GLAD he is BACK. Now where are all the people that said he is done in radio?
