It's official: 102.7 is going "Wild" in AC

It's due to launch this weekend. I wonder if they will be able to keep the "wild" name. There's a reason 96.5 in Philly is Wired: Clear Channel trademarked "Wild"
there is a construction permit to boost the signal and move the transmitter to AC itself.
Here is the new signal: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WJSE&service=FM&status=C&hours=U
Hopefully if there is the slightest bit of tropo this weekend I can hear it launch without having to go all the way to AC.

Do we really need another JSE thread?

Really?

Another article claiming this flip was "official" was in the Nobody Talking About WJSE thread. Read first, post second.

Thanks

It's been 8 years since this format was gone from the Atlantic City area, and from what I heard, the club scene really changed. We all know The Buzz got blown up for hip-hop, and Hot 106.3 (WKOE) was in the middle of the boonies of Sea Isle City. Yes, it sucks to see JSE go, but it's not like it's the ONLY rock format on the dial. You still have The Shark and ZXL.

I never said I was sad to see JSE go. I don't know where you got that idea, however, I'm pretty much indifferent towards Rock stations in the market altogether.

I would like to see a dance format succeed in this market, I don't think that will happen, but who knows?

Kudos to the new management for taking risks. They realized JSE wasn't bringing in any money, so they decided to flip formats. The former management, the DISASTER that it was, had the mindset of two adults in a failing marriage.....they stuck it out, even though they knew it was going to fail, because it was safer than taking a risk and flipping. Now they are gone.

Let's hope the good folks employed by Atlantic at JSE keep their jobs. There's been enough carnage at Atlantic already.

By reading this, gave me the impression that we are rubbing it in. Sorry I took it in this direction.

From what I heard with all the clubs and everyone going down to AC lately, it was bound for someone to dedicate their signal to the nightlife. You can't deny though that The Buzz as it was a CHR/Dance wasn't failing, but the decision to flip to hip-hop was made to get in more revenue and more numbers ( as hip-hop was hot in that period.) If you notice, the current top 40 hits are leaning in a dance sound, and I'm glad to see it come back. As for the staff and jocks at JSE, I really do hope they join the new station like how some staff from Press stood with Hit 106 after flipping from G-Rock.

I thought that the reason that 96.5 in Philly went from 'Wild' to 'Wired' had to do with only the website domain being registered to Clear Channel, not the 'Wild' name unto itself???

Um ... have you heard either of these "rock" stations? I guarantee that no one who enjoyed WJSE could even stomach these two stations. One's a run-of-the-mill Classic Rocker that's basically "Stairway", "Freebird", etc. ad nauseum, the other one is AOR verging on Classic Hits (WZXL actually plays stuff like The Eagles, Billy Joel and Fleetwood Mac!). This is a major loss for fans of post-Bon Jovi rock in South Jersey ... those who could get 'JSE on its anemic signal, anyway.

One thing I have to say, and YOU know who you are:

If the dance format doesn't SUIT you and you're going to nitpick on the littlest things, especially if the station plays something rhythmic, could you KEEP IT TO YOURSELF? Just REMEMBER about Party FM when it was on 87.7 and the lessons learned from that. Just support the station!

I worry you guys are going to be disappointed if you're expecting 102.7 to be pure dance.

I think that, at least at first, this station will sound more like 99.3 than Long Island's Party 105. I'm sure there will be a dance component (popular stuff like Guetta, La Roux, and Deadmau5), but they would be crazy to start out as deep into dance as Party is. South Jersey hasn't had this sort of music on the radio in almost 10 years. I think they'll sign on as mostly rhythmic pop.

That's why I gave a "heads up" warning Slinky.

I remember all of the "outrage" that had happened when Party FM was on 87.7 in New York City because it had replaced Pulse 87, a station that had a "cult" following but no money due to financial matters with the company involved. I DO NOT want this to happen again which is why I've posted the way I did towards certain people that I see in here that WERE critical on Party FM and then all of a sudden did an "about face" when Party left 87.7.

Whatever the format is, I will stand FULLY behind the station. Besides, a lot more rhythmic artists are doing dance remixes of tracks. I have NO problem with that. If that's going to help with that "big picture" then we must stand behind it :). This "elitist" attitude must stop now because that is self-defeatist.

That's all I'm saying :)

Congratulations to John Carraciolo and Vic Latino for making this happen :)

I learned my lesson the day Party went off 87.7 in New York. I will embrace the new 102.7 with open arms.

Is anyone going to grab the 102.7 alternative audiance??

I just want to know when the website will be up. I found their facebook page.

OY VEY Vic, what format hole...how many urbanic, non-rock formats can one area support....LOCH IN KOP is what you have....If it were for people like you Metal, Rock, British Invasion, Surf, Folk, Country music would never be popular. Your kind continues to shove this urbanic fluff on the listener as if any other brand of music is taboo.....format hole, this shows you no nothing, and I mean nothing about radio...yes I am bitter...you want to take up the dial from end to end with urbanic, urbanic and more urbanic, if its urbanic sounding go for it is your motto, anything rock or cauc sounding and its trash. JSE had big time signal problems that is their downfall....put it on 97.3 and see what would happen. Looks like bibs are needed on this board, so many people drooling over this fluke, give it one year....

102.7 is upgrading its signal with the format change. It'll have similar coverage as 99.3 Kiss FM. The Baltimore station won't interfere with WJSE/WWAC as much after the upgrade. In fact, it might reach as far north as Point Pleasant.

Sounds like if it were up to you, your 6 formats would take up the dial from end to end and it would only be those 6 you mentioned. But one teeny little dance leaning station that may be similar to The Buzz gets a break, the end of the world is here. I'm sure you had no problem where almost all the dials were filled with rock, rock, and more rock back then when rock formats started flipping disco stations and tried to demise dance. And indeed, there was a format hole in this market, and after nearly 8 years, this hole will be filled.
