It's official: 102.7 is going "Wild" in AC

Wild 102.7 is sounding HOT! Definitely sounds better than 87.7 when Party took over the bankrupt Pulse. And I love the liners between the songs.

I was down in Atlantic City for the launch of Wild 102.7. They were playing 102.7 on the speakers on the Boardwalk, with the special fireworks "stunting", and the first 15 minutes of Wild 102.7 were heard by everyone on the boardwalk.

Lets hope JVC makes enough money to buy out Fresh 102.7 and replace that garbage with Wild 102.7 :)

EDIT: Uh-oh, I just heard the same spot twice in the same stopset just now...

I love the in-your-face presentation. Reminds me of Q102 (or Boss 97!) in the early 90's. Pat Garrett was a great choice as the voice.

The station definitely came dancier than I expected. I was expecting the big dance hits ("What A Feeling", "Stereo Love", etc.), but I wasn't expecting every other song to be a remix. The radio and music fan in me is glad they're taking risks, but the realist in me is wondering if it's a little too much for this market to handle. I guess we'll see.

I was actually wondering about that. That was genius on the part of their promotions department. Not too many new stations get that kind of debut.
 
I think they cross-promoted with Harrahs Entertainment. The speakers on the boardwalk were attached to Ballys and Caesars. They were doing the fireworks broadcast from the roof of Caesars. The fireworks show was produced by Harrahs Entertainment. They were actively encouraging the listeners to drive to AC for the fireworks show. Ballys charged $20 per car for parking (without a player's card). I'm sure before and after the show, people were gambling in Ballys and Caesars, and they probably made more money in casino revenue than the cost of the fireworks. This was one of the best fireworks shows I've seen, I've never seen fireworks launched from a boat in the ocean before. It's nice to think that the fireworks was part of 102.7's stunting.

I'll never forget hearing What A Feeling blasted on the boardwalk. Just when I was not expecting them to play any dance at all, I heard What A Feeling.

The best part of my trip to AC: Wild 102.7's launch. Second best: The fireworks display. Third best part: I won $100 in the casino :)

Nick, do you ALWAYS have to go "places" with your criticisms on Party on 87.7 and never fully getting over Pulse?

I like Wild 102.7 too. I've been hearing it in my car via my phone and the start looks VERY promising, but there's no need to compare apples and oranges here. You HAVE TO STOP THAT. You're killing things for us when you do that; and you should know better being in college radio. Just like the music, that's all :). If things can expand from there for our music as a whole then that is our goal.

It's a great station and I agree...A.C. is LUCKY, but down the line there I'm sure there will be a mix show. You certainly have TONS of clubs in and around the casinos to refer to. :) If anyhthing it just adds on to what I believe is a station that has great potential :)

My how times have changed. I remember when Party-type formats were considered "old school Rhythmic CHR" :)
