It's official--Eagle going oldies

As we all expected, Citadel is going oldies (Scott Shannon's True Oldies 106.7) after the NASCAR race Sunday. No word about Imus in the press release, though. And also, Dallas is joining Cadillac in mornings on Kicks.

“Radio listeners in the Atlanta area searching for their favorite hits from the past have been without a home for far too long and we’re very pleased to be filling that void,” said Mark Richards, Operations Manager of WYAY-FM, in the release. “With playlists that include the popular, fun sounds of the ‘60s and ‘70s, we’ll be providing music’s greatest hits to our audience on a daily basis.”

NASCAR Sprint Cup Racing can still be heard live on True Oldies 106.7 every weekend during racing season, and Citadel Broadcasting will continue to super serve Atlanta’s country listeners on sister station, KICKS 1015, where Dallas McCade, long-time Eagle on-air personality, will join Cadillac Jack in mornings.

Fans of the country format previously airing on WYAY-FM will soon be able to hear those music selections on the station’s HD-2 channel.

AMEN. Thanks Rodney. A format we definitely need. ;D

So, Rodney, are you saying they are going to flip after the race is over , or are they going to wait till Monday morning?

I hope this destroys the River. Such a wasteland of 100 songs a week.

Imus is back, too

Just got confirmation--Imus is coming, too. No surprise there. They just sent that news out separately. And Brent-oldies will start Sunday after the race is over.

Yep, since 45+ is the big demo for HD radio ownership ::)

Any word on what they're going to do with their NASCAR contract? Leave it on Y?

I'm sure Mark is just thrilled ;D. At least he'll have nothing to program on 106.7.

I would think Rock 100.5 is more of a competitor for the River. My guess is Rock and the River will have more playlist overlap????

I hope not. I was listening to the Washington D.C. feed and they don't say that at all. So, hopefully they won't do it here either. And the music is great, they play a lot of things that Fox and 105.7 never even thought of, it is really as good mix.

In my opinion the River is old and tired.

dammit. now we got hits from 60s 70s 80s but not 1 station playng from this century.

congrats to u tho brent u got ur wish

LOL.. Thanks, but I don't think I am the only in this town who wants oldies back. I know a lot of people who can't wait for this to happen.

In the words of the I Man, "Jesus God, it isn't bad enough that we have to hear Snot Shannon pukin it up as voice guy for Hanitty, now we have to hear his nasal over processed voice 20 hours a day".

(Pop's the cork on the champaign bottle)

Cheers Brent! (clink) :)

Oh sorry for the mess folks...I'll clean up the balloons and confetti! ::)

Even if it is only 200 songs deep, at least it will be 200 decent songs. The crap that has passed for music these past 20 years is so depressing I would have jumped off a bridge if I'd had to listen to it.

If you hadn't listened to 'todays' music during the past 20 years, then how would you know--never mind, my brain hurts. :-X

BRENT might as well delete his radio-info account...
