I think this is great...except the part about not having local talent. It will be amazing to see how this combination of one DJ 21/7 with Imus will work out (although I think Imus will be kicked to the curb in a few months).
I do think NASCAR should move either to Kicks, or better yet WSB-AM (if WSB doesn't go after the Falcons). Since Atlanta is one of the largest NASCAR markets (with Charlotte and Daytona), NASCAR should be concerned about being on a station that could pull in low ratings.
Speaking of ratings...what about promotions. I understand there is no money. How will Citadel get the word out about the new station. Kicks?
WYAY will be like WDWD (Radio Disney) was when everything was still a part of ABC. It will be the little known sibling that is hidden in the broom closet that is satellite-fed and automatic (only this time local ads will be sold...and it is a 77kW stick that people can actually pick up quite decently).

Lets compare Sunny 100 and Cool 105.7 to the new 106.7:
Sunny 100 Canton is locally owned and operated. It had a pretty diverse playlist (before Davis pulled the plug on it to broadcast gas-inducing garbage). WNSY used outdated equipment and (along with WCHK) had satellite dishes so dirty that needed a bath in harsh solvents, they cared about their listeners. (Although those satellites probably have birds nesting on them by now). The programming originated from a converted house on Old Highway 5 in Canton with live local DJs pushing buttons and turning knobs (Bob Bailey, Scott Evens, Jack Reynolds, Chris Morgan). The DJs could have stayed in Atlanta radio or left the area to get $$$$ and took barking orders from corporate, but they stayed in town and took a working man's salary, because they loved local radio, and were passionate about what they were doing.
Cool 105.7 is corporate owned by the largest owner in radio (Clear Channel). State of the art NextGen equipment. Programmed by John Wetherbee (who was also busy as weekend meterologist at WGCL-TV and his syndicated weather service) and staffed by some of the most passionate people in oldies radio (JJ Jackson, Randy and Spiff, Chris Morgan) - except middays which is prerecorded in Cincinatti. Broadcasts from office buidling in Buckhead. 250 song playlist as ordered by corporate "consultants", although Chris Morgan runs a 50's show on Sunday nights. Runs contests simulataniously with other CC stations. Runs promos as ordered by CC corporate. Also only standalone FM (not simulcasting an AM) to run traffic reports 24/7.
With corporate owned WYAY, they will have a diverse playlist. But it will be VT'ed by one DJ (with a break in the mornings for Imus). The programming will originate from the WABC/WPLJ studios in New York (and wherever Imus does his show in New York), with computerized equipment inserting local ads and IDs. The equipment will be stored in a broom closet in an office building in Cobb County near the intersection of I-75 and I-285.

Once the financial situation is settled, I would like to see 106.7 hire Chris Morgan (former Cool 105.7 and Sunny 100 DJ) if he is available. I hope this works out, and that Citadel will get the capability to hire local personalities. I also hope that Citadel will not flip it two years like CC did with Cool.
