Yup. It's a done deal. The entire staff was just fired. Marco and Mikey are at Uhaul right now, Shannon is interning with Bob and Tom tomorrow, and Nigel is already drunk at TGI Fridays. Puuuhleeze!

So... they're gonna change their format on 9/5 and STILL have a station concert on 9/9 (mass. ave festival) with artists that have nothing to do with a new format. oh, and the Track comment a few posts above...that was hilarious, I'm sure someone got everyone together and said "let's go after the TRACKS 1 share"....

You also might want to check trends today...I hear WNOU was one of the few stations that looked real good. not the same for ZPL or HHH!

"Spike," you're either a complete idiot or you're someone within Emmis/ Indianapolis messing with all the idiots in this thread that think WNOU is dumping CHR for the "Movin" format. If you're the former, allow me to refer to you once again as an IDIOT. If you're the latter, tell Tim Rainey that a certain person he knows from a certain Top 20 market says "Hello" and to have Jeff spin "Bia Bia" in one of the mixes, just for old time's sake at a certain club about 200 miles west of Indianapolis.

People, for the last time... CHR ON 93.1 IN INDIANAPOLIS IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I'm even willing to make wagers on it.
CHR PRogrammer Radio now has already tinkered with their format all summer adding all the Retro old School rthymic Tracks. you can always tell sometimes when a change is a brewing. we all saw the end of Retro 93.9 coming when the Jack Website came Out for 93.9 originally and that they were doing an A to Z weekend over 4th of July and usually there is only one station that would play there entire music catalog in a to z and that is Q95. no one Said Gold 104.5 was going to bite the bullet and where is Gold these days oh yeah on a peashooter out of Franklin not even a shell of the original Gold since 2 of Gold's main Cogs are with Cumulus in Bruce Elscott and Scott Roddy at Hank and Emmis. so i wouldnt be to Sold on Emmis keeping CHR on 93.1. no one said ZPL would go in a totally different direction earlier after Radio now came on the air in 2000 when ZPL dropped its at the time going towards its current Hybrid Hot AC/CHR Format for Modern AC. and wasnt WTPI the Long time Reigning Soft Rock King in Indianapolis and where is WTPI these Days.

well then why are they doing promo's to tune into see what's Next on September 5th a mere 8 Days away. its either some lame brain promotion or there switching formats. we need to see if the morning mess on friday says any goodbyes since more than likely they wont be on Next Monday due to Labor Day

They don't let you say goodbye, they pay you for the uhaul and send you down the road!
The current Air Talent were prob told that it's a promo stunt for a major promotion...

Old Buzz

all very valid points....

I can remember being on Shadeland betting money on Country as the new format on 93.1....we were all pretty convinced until the Sunday when I drove by the studios....they had put up the sign over the studio (backwards)....but I could make out the Radio Now thing....then the whole Nsync on repeat made more sense! (and the ZPL bashing)

Here ya go....

[EDIT]
More than one station on a line indicates a simulcast.
Notes:
WEDJ-FM - Was Spanish Contemporary until July 13

with those 12 plus numbers in mind

if WNOU could hang onto 1 or 2 points....and take 1 or 2 from HHH...grab a few from other places

that gets them above a 4 and a more attractive selling demo....that would be reason enough for me to be Movin' (if i were looking to change it)

Things haven't been the same since J.D. "The Governor" Redmond and Jana left the airwaves at RadioNow. Maybe they are coming back on 9/5 ???????????

Well, I was wrong.(atleast I can admit it) They're gonna start pulling staff anytime this week.

It's a jammin' oldies format.

and Burt Reynolds: have fun cashing your part time 63 dollar a week paycheck, maybe you can help Smiley out of his 3 share for the past few months ;) Maybe you can submit his current ratings to Kelly's daily dilemna:

Dear Kelly,
I work on the Smiley Morning Show, but I mask myself under 'Burt Reynolds' on this pathetic radio rumor board...anyway...our show's ratings have taken a hit...actually your show is now kicking our ass. Can you help? oh, and please play James Blunt, again. Thanks. Burt.

Toast! Still unclear about what's next but most of the full-time staff is gone. PD is transfering to another property. Nigel has already landed another gig, he would not say where or when. Taste of Mass Ave event moves to B105.7. I've been privy to 1 conversation about a new format that is breaking out of Europe. It's been tagged with the "next" label. Not sure what it is but this could be what's coming. Emmis does own property over seas.

What exactly happened with RadioNow? I'm lost. It sounds like they're playing the same stuff...same jocks... same name, etc. Was this "next" thing just another radio ploy? I'm tempted to push the next button on my stereo's remote!

WNOU Unveils "What's Next"
Following a weekend of jockless teasing with liners that said, "What if 93.1 played Polka? Played nothing at all? Played movies?" The answers are now apparent on EMMIS Top 40 WNOU (RADIO NOW 93.1)/INDIANAPOLIS following a 7a announcement on the MORNING MESS show.

WNOU PD CHRIS EDGE explains, "RADIO NOW has played the most requested song of the hour since it's inception in 2000, but listeners can vote using text messaging. By texting your favorite song to 66993 you get a message back with what song is in the lead at that moment. Listeners can also follow along online at radionow931.com. At the top of the page you'll see the Top 10 requested songs scrolling in real time. Vote, Track, Listen."

Meanwhile, EDGE brings in SUMMER NETTLES to do middays and host the Old School Lunch, replacing MISTY COX. SUMMER is inbound from Top 40/Rhythmic WJFX (HOT 107.9)/FT. WAYNE.

Also, WNOU is announcing "Santa Slam 2006", ready to launch on SATURDAY DECEMBER 2nd featuring NELLY FURTADO, with other acts and ticket information coming soon.

And, look for "Video Now!" on the site. Custom content every week as KISHA hits the streets and talks to INDY. Check out her page at radionow931.com/kisha.

That's it?!? RadioNow turned themselves into a jukebox, removed all forms of imaging (except for those stupid "what's next" liners), and made it sound like something big was coming...for what? To announce that listeners can now vote for "the hour's number one" by cell phone, the new midday jock (who isn't well known), and a concert?!? Oh...I guess I forgot about the "Video Now!" feature. Big whoop!

Sorry Edge...I think your "promotion" was a stupid one. Sure, it may have created a lot of hype...but for what? The same old station with a new midday jock (who isn't that great)?!?

Does this mean that the rumors about Nigel changing his name to "Champ Kind" and replacing Chris Denari on Fox 59 Sports are false?

"Whammmmmy!"

It is pretty funny that everyone on this board and people all over town thought RadioNow was changing format. ;D

After listening for about 10 minutes to the afternoon guy on my way home from work talking about whether or not online dating is a good choice (since he is new in town) and the text messaging thing, I quickly changed stations. Sorry, not my cup of tea. Still sounds the same to me as it did 5 years ago.

thats too bad, i was looking forward to Rick Dees, and NO MORNING MESS

Meanwhile, EDGE brings in SUMMER NETTLES to do middays and host the Old School Lunch, replacing MISTY COX.

Actually...Summer is replacing Mel McMahon. Misty has been gone for quite some time now. Mel can also be heard doing traffic and such on the drive home (maybe other times too) on B105.7. She's also the voice of several commercials on 93.1. Anyways, just in case she thought no one noticed, I did.
