It's Official, "Radio Disney" Is Ending on WQEW This Fall

Face it we are in the Ohbahma economy unions Don't matter except the ones who pay a huge tribute to the D party.

I saw a video last night about drugs in Appalachia and the host remarked how clean the countryside looked.......and the driver's answer was everything that's worth anything has been scrapped a long time ago

And nobody will face up to the inner cities No business will relocate to an area that has 50-60-70% of the locals functionally illiterate, yet our banana boat president says nothing, instead he bombs a foreign country.......we all might as well get used to stupid....

We're talking New York City, aren't we? It's a union town. You want to work non-union, go to NJ.

Don't change the subject. This has nothing to do with Washington DC. Anyone who has ever worked in New York City, regardless of the politics, will tell you it's a union town, and you can't work for $15 an hour. Every facility has union stage hands, union technicians, union musicians, and union announcers. When the NBC radio network debuted in 1926, in the middle of a Republican administration, the Musicians Union filed a grievance against NBC for putting a company secretary on the air playing a piano rather than a union musician.

Use of the terms Internet and radio together is an oxymoron....like military intelligence!

Internet broadcasting is ok.....but the use of RADIO means radiation...the internet is NOT RF..

That limited and anticuated thinking will be the death of radio as we know it.

Listener perception is that audio that comes from somewhere else that does have a picture synchronized with it is "radio".

Whatever the term meant historically, it no longer is limited to towers in the sky. People do not buy"radios" any more but just last weekend bought 10 million iPhones which connect them to today's "radio".

It wont be long before lots of unions are kicked out of NYC......or diminished greatly

The problem is costs people who come here are astounded by the cost and the amount of wasted costs they have to pay. Unions can survive and thrive as long as its easy to fire a worker....no matter what color you are. We've had teachers paid to do nothing for years like GM had thousands of on call workers paid to wait until someone is sick to work that day. And yet ill bet hundreds would apply at 1560 am to work for $15hr just to get it at the top of their resume....I would

Internet broadcasting means we stream a few programs maybe a few hours a day if that......radio to me means 24/7 we are always ON

Aside from the irrelevant political distraction you introduced, I am unable to visualize how working for an AM station that might play music for a demographic no advertiser wants would look "good" on antibody's résumé.

Things that look good on a résumé include working for successful stations in meaningful positions over at least a few years. An AM music format will not be sustainable for that length of time, and can not possibly be recognized in the industry as "successful".

And there is no way that any owner can pay $15 an hour in NYC today.

And for those of you may know that tomorrow is the last day of "Radio Disney" which is carried on 1560 AM. As of 12:00 AM early Friday morning, it will be gone. I will be recording it as of tomorrow if WQEW's signal might pick up stronger at night. I will record the final night of "Radio Disney". I'll keep checking it soon.

Well Radio Disney will still live....on KDIS in LA and via SXM and other sources..and I was not sure if the RD O&Os will sign off midnight Thursday /Friday or midnight Friday/ Saturday. I'll have to ask friends at the Dallas location..

I can imagine what the over-the-top manufactured-energy pounding of Radio Disney's programming must do to kids with ADD or ADHD. Good riddance to it!

David, I think the only way it would look good on a resume is that it shows experience...which means such dj might get a job babysitting automation from midnight to 5 on a station in Iowa City. More resume building. Heck they might even get to voice a weather report too!

And still running past midnight. I'm guessing the sign off is late or it will be later today.
It will remain on the air until midnight this Friday into Saturday night. I hope it will be the last day of running "Radio Disney" which is day. Will have 24 hours left until it's history.

Scott Frybush reported he will have something in his column concerning this delay in his column later today...evidently someone decided to go longer...though one FL RD station is running ok but no LEGAL IDs or sweepers, etc..ONE RD station up north has a promotion scheduled for Sunday...so wonder if the big turn off is being delayed because of that?? check Frybush.com for more info later today...

Fybush, no "r."

Why Would They Shutoff Friday Anyway

Why would anyone think they would kill it off before the end of the week?
Chances are it goes off at Midnight Tonight. Finish out the work week before nuking it.
Usually ads are sold that way anyway.
