It's a kind of hedge-fund thing, Tommy G. Just in case the FM dial of every major market in the hemisphere starts to clog and back up with talk and sports overload, ol' reliable AM is there.
I'm in a distinct minority here in NEPA -- a Mets fan who listens to the Mets play the Phillies on 1210 instead of WFAN. But that's minor. I'm in a larger minority inasmuch as, being about a hundred miles away from WPHT's stick, I'm a fringe-signal listener. They come in well here in the day, by the way, an easy catch, and with KYW they are the two loudest Philadelphia stations on AM or FM. My point here is that 94KX out of Sunbury destroys 94.1 in these parts.
TBTB can't be concerned whatsoever about a Mets fan a hundred miles away who listens to their PBP on WPHT, lol. Management has bigger and closer fish to fry. They're just seeing which fishing hole shows more promise while they can afford to do so.
