I've Been Preaching This For At Least 10 Years!

I agree However, I don't see things changing much from status quo unfortunately. Corporate is stuck in its ways and I do agree with the article in that Radio will self destruct by not changing the current path it is on. Real change needs to happen at the top first. Are there any new innovations, new talent, as well as formats on the horizon?

Radio is playing catch up to the new technologies that are biting at its feet and it will only get worse once the current talent retires and its aging audiences dies off or becomes undesirable for advertisers.

By the way, ClassX is a breath of fresh air. I'm enjoying what i hear on 89.1 FM

Thanks Microbob. Our staff works hard at what they do. Glad it's appreciated.

Chris,

I mistook your original post as a slam against what the staff here has worked so hard to pull off so long. I am sensitive when it comes to that. I should have known better that you were just trying to get the conversation stimulated to get people talking about it. We've known one another for a long time & I should have known better. Alas, this human did not think this through enough.

I know that you have supported ClassX and I apologize publicly for jumping.

I accept the apology and apologize back that you took my first post in the way that you did. As I've said I am a fan of ClassX and always have been. I think your a brilliant engineer, and rank at the top of the list when it comes to current technology and how it helps us as broadcasters.

Your a programmer, and so am I. We are two very passionate people when it comes to our beliefs of how to do it. And while we will disagree, our friendship is more important to me, then what songs should be played, how they should be played etc.

I loved my time at ClassX, and enjoyed working with that dedicated staff. Bob, Jack, Alex, and many others are very talented people, who volunteer their time to make the station great. I have saluted them all in person, and I salute them all now.

After reading this thread of postings I had to tune in to ClassX radio....all I can say is WOW!!! Great job guys and gals. I have been enjoying the station for about a week now and love what I hear. I wish you continued success!!!! Im listening online...is their a droid app?

Hey Doodical we've got a Droid app in the works right now. In the meantime try Radio Bee in the Droid Market place. Do a search on ClassX. It's what I use.

Kudos Rocknuts. You have managed lots of talk for a station with a 0.0. But what do I know. I have a .5. :) Good luck I really am pulling for you. The few times I have listened the station was tight, processing sounded great. Air talent and music mix......... Different strokes....

Well not a 0.0, but rather a .1, which does not include our 10kw WKCX as it just recently signed on. Our issue is marketing the station. We are beginning a campaign tomorrow. We still run into people all of the time that never heard of us. Then they tune in and never leave. I'm confident that when the masses know about us, we'll hit some numbers. Takes time.

I hear ya. If you like the old AOR format, you're gonna love ClassX. BTW, our jocks are not meant to be Professional Announcers. They are regular people from the community who we give a voice. Another reason why we connect to our audience. They can relate. The only people who care about professional voices on the air are radio people! I used to think that way when I was younger. Bad talent drove me nuts. But as I grew older I realized what was important and what was not. Having that perfect voice on air only matters to Radio People, not necessarily the listeners. There are many GREAT people in this world. Who am I to judge them because they don't have the greatest voice. What's more important is what they have to give to their audience and just doing good business. Listening to your listeners and acting on their comments and requests. Talking up to them instead of down to them. We are making that human connection that has been lost in radio for so long. We actually answer our phones! It does seem to be working. We constantly get positive comments and more importantly we are growing.

Thanks Chris! As one of the kids, I'll say we hate it when you two fight. ;-)

partyMarty, you are the MAN! I listen to your station quite a bit. Please tell Brian I said hi next time you speak with him.

Doodical, thanks to you as well.

I'll be auditioning for the big time again at 3 today in case anyone is curious. Been doing this for 20 years, I'm bound to get it right eventually. ;-)

get what?

Guy said the DJs on ClassX sound like they're auditioning for the big time. I'm on at three today on ClassX. Ergo...

<dang it I need to start using the quote thing on here, don't I?>
