I've stopped listening to WPHT

maybe Salem Radio would like to buy some more AM stations in Philllly & make more $$$$
'airing preachers, infomercials & clones of Rush.

Will the new PD Jared Hart make changes to the WPHT lineup?

If so, what changes should he make to the station to be better?

He is being brought in to implement what those above him want, period. Why else do you think someone who's so short on PD experience is being given a major market position like this?

When a GM comes out and makes proclamations about how his station's "ideology" is to be maintained, you know the PD is basically a puppet.

Despite Jul's plea, not sure how many 'IQ' listeners will return to PHT. If you read listener comments on the IQ Facebook page, when they announced the format change (months after we knew it here of course), most people posting apparently bought into the liners on IQ that 1210 was a 'liberal' station now & people were continuing to badmouth 1210 & say they'd listen to all their shows online now. I think 1210 may see a fraction of a point or two but 990 will again gain nothing from this change.

interesting. I don't like the job Andy Bloom has done to the station this year. Bringing in Dick Morris, bringing back Rush and Hannity and the live and local didn't work Monday-Friday. I will say this however. Andy did reply to my e-mails about my complaints about WPHT. I do thank him for at least doing that, even though I don't like the decisions he has made in recent weeks on WPHT. if you want to e-mail him: [email protected]

I hope that he tells Andy Bloom this, so Bloom can make the changes he should make. He told me this
Weekends are what they are and we are not able to make wholesale changes to weekends at this point. No sense in sending a bunch of emails to the new PD. In essence I am in charge of programming for WIP and WPHT. I set the direction. The PDs of the stations can offer ideas and help make my vision better but the course is determined by me and the Market Manager
My question was
I hope that 1210 will air all hours of Coast to Coast AM, 7 nights a week. If you can't do that, 1210 needs to air something else at night. I would like 1210 to consider airing the Bill Cunningham show on Sundays from 10 PM-1 AM ET since 1210 is cutting costs and perhaps pick up the kim komando show to air live on Saturdays from 10 AM TO 1 pm. I'm against 1210 airing Sean Hannity on a DELAY. 1210 should have aired his show live and moved Dick Morris to evenings. I'm not going to say drop him entirely but I think 1210 would be wise to think about this and talk about this and my other suggestions with the new PD next week.
He told me this about Coast to Coast AM
As for Coast to Coast – I believe we’re clearing the whole show. I think you’ve become used to us repeating an hour to stretch until the morning show. If I’ve got that wrong I apologize – but I think we’ve got Coast to Coast covered.
I said
I disagree with that Andy. 4 hours, Tuesday-Friday- 3 hours Saturday morning, and infomercials scattered about during the Sunday and Monday CTC programs, so no, 1210's not clearing all 4 hours of the show live 7 nights a week. I hope that you change this soon. People deserve to hear this show in full (all 4 hours) in this market, 7 nights a week.

Oh, Julius! Gotta love it. You finally got a direct connection for your suggestions and you blew it right away! What a shame.

Unfortunately the position is an APD position not a true PD position. According to a friend the pay was very low and they couldn't entice experienced programmers to take the gig. Bloom and Rayfield will continue to run the station until CBS lets them go.

unreal. 1210's truly messed up. its been that way since the WCAU days. does anyone think that Bloom and Rayfield are part of the reason why 1210's been in decline for several years with its format and programming decisions?

I've listened to the show enough to say this, the management of WPHT really messed up, big time by hiring Dick Morris. Lets face it, Sean Hannity should be replacing Dick Morris in the afternoons, I don't care how bad Hannity's ratings were previously on 1210, before coming back to the station. you don't air a talk show like Hannity on a 6 hour tape delay, at night. That's just something a radio station shouldn't do.

Why not?
The only reason Hannity is back on WPHT is because the station HAD to take him to get Limbaugh. This has been reported more than once and is common practice in the industry. Maybe WPHT will put him back on afternoons at some point, but your argument that Hannity should never be tape delayed isn't sound reasoning.

The reason why I'm saying this is because 1210 should have canceled Dick Morris or moved him to 6 PM or later to make room for Hannity, plain and simple. Morris is not doing well in the afternoons in the ratings. I know that they had to take Hannity in order to get Rush, but 1210 messed up by not moving Morris to another time or fire him altogether.
