Jack Arrives on Friday!

Doesn't matter what KIOL does or for that matter anything on the 103.7. This is too much of a rim shot signal no matter what the format play is. Same problem for the Cumulus 97.5. As mentioned before, the best ideas for these stations is just to go back and be Beaumont radio stations! How many more formats will Pat Fant keep trying to do with these properties? But good luck anyway with their future format decisions.

word on the street is that the old airstaff (what was left of them) were let go today.

Well, their streaming provider (Streamaudio.com) shows the new logo. If this is a stunt, they've put a lot of effort into it. It's way more than what most operators put into a stunt! I suspect the reason they were promoting the 500 was that the staff didn't find out about the change until after they had begun promoting it. Sadly, it's often how things go in this business.

Jack FM to make Houston debut
By DAVID BARRON

The eclectic, iPod shuffle-like music format known as Jack FM makes its Houston debut at 10:37 a.m. Friday at 103.7 FM.

The Cumulus Media station, now known as KIOL or Rock 103.7 FM, will be reformatted as KHJK, said Pat Fant, Cumulus' Houston market manager.

Houston will be the seventh market in Texas and the fifth top 10 market in the country to add Jack FM, which formats about a thousand songs by 500 artists in 18 genres of music dating from the late 1960s through today.

Jack FM operates without live DJs, so Cumulus will attempt to find positions elsewhere in the company for Rock 103.7's current on-air personalities.

Will this be a locally-produced Jack or will it be the satellited version?

On the Jack FM wikipedia.... "SparkNet has, in turn, licensed the format to ABC Radio Networks for satellite-based syndication to stations in U.S. markets outside the 40 largest.".. sooo... local? uh oh.

I heard and repeat heard as in a rumor that Jack Fm is supposed to start tomorrow and 10:37. Is this true???
