Jack FM biting the dust - Free FM fades

Notice that Star is number 2? And so 100.7 switching to JACK was the better alternative? Sorry, not buying it...

doesn't matter whether you buy it or not. they did it, they're holding their own

I like Jack for their music. The morning banter is minimal unlike their predecessor.

For me - morning talk shows are noit my cup of tea. I don't want to be "buddy/buddy" with some of those people and I don't care to listen to their "intimate" details of their day to day boring lives. Just give me the music.

I can't get into Free-FM either. Last time I listened was when Howard was still there.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!

You're telling me Jack bills more than Star 100.7 did?

Star was off year after year from 2000 on, and Jack's '95 billing exceeded the final years of Star. Better demos, better sales effort, better perception by advertisers could all be factors.

David, why do you keep writing 1995? Don't you mean 2005? ???
There were no Jack FM stations anywhere back in 1995 as far as I recall.

Tracy knew Jeff & Jer were leaving. JACK was the answer to keep a solid framework to KFMB in a post Jeff & Jer world. KFMB was dominantly the #1 biller in the market then they made the switch. Not sure after...

Sorry, meant '05 billing. The revenue had slipped every year since 2000 until they switched format, which produced an immediate turnaround.

KFMB-FM was not the #1 biller in 2004... they were 3rd or 4th.

That claimm doesn't make sense. Jeff and Jer left BECAUSE of Jack, and if they were already going, why did they rename 94.1 "Star" when they started?

I don't think Jeff and Jer would have gone anywhere, but for JACK.

David - I don't have the numbers to back that up. All I know is Tracy said in several
video sales presentations for JACK that KFMB that Star was #1 Miller/Kaplan.

The Jeff & Jer aspect is from inside, but reliable. He knew they were not renewing and
they had to walk through the motions of JACK and they sounded like it.

Not looking to get into an arm wresting match, just sayin' what I had heard from reliable
sources. Take for what you will.

Sellers deal in hyperbole. It hss not been #1 in M-K in 2005 or 2004, the only ones I checked. BIA confirms-.
