There is a report that 93.1 Jack-FM "has withdrawn its proposal to put on a July 3 festival the day before Redondo Beach's Independence Day fireworks" but plans to be a part of the main event at Seaside Lagoon that weekend.

Now, maybe us radiophiles may have a tendency to read into things a little too deep but... anyone get the impression that this move signals CBS possibly rebranding "Jack-FM" in L.A.? Think about it: "Jack" was killed in New York City a few years ago (actually, when "CBS-FM" returned, "Jack" was jettisoned to its HD-2 channel; "Jack" was quietly snuffed out in favor of "ToNY" after awhile), and just recently, they rebranded "Jack" in Chicago as "K-Hits".
Or maybe I don't know Jack... :
But considering the way CBS has been phasing out the "Jack" name on its stations in recent years, it's possible it could happen here, too.
