Jack fm... stale already?

ridiculous thought

"Our jack seems to be progressing slower than others"? Are you mad? They've only been on the air several weeks.

Remember: you do NOT listen to or use the radio the same as listeners do. For a great majority of real everyday Nashville listeners, Jack will sound fresh and different for much longer than it seems to you.

Re: ridiculous thought

Nashville's Jack has just added a terrible jingle package. It
sounds like the late 70's or early 80's. I prefer the smart-a**
stuff, I guess. It's different.

Yes, the repeats are happening and the music is somewhat more
predictable. I hope they add some new songs, as well.

Still, it's getting a heck of a lot of talk. Nothing else
is getting any attention, although Oldies 97.1 is sounding
pretty decent.

Laugh of the day, and I'll have more info tomorrow for Lou:

WHY is THE ROCK playing "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder and
something from Linda Ronstandt? And no, I can't spell her
name or remember the song. It is pitiful.

You guys CANNOT claim this crap to be
close to CLASSIC ROCK. Especially "Classic Rock that Really
Rocks." Look it up on yes.com to see if I am lying--eyes.

Lou's previous comments on Jack sound about perfect for
the target.

Oldiescat: a little change in Jack here and there, even this
early is what'll keep the interest going. Chill. A little.
If I was programming it, I'd be swinging all over the place
to get reaction. So would you.

And yes, Jack can play Stevie Wonder. But not THE ROCK. That's
mad. Make that sad.

thanks, but

Please don't ask me to "chill"- there's nothing to "chill" about.

It just sounds silly to analyze a station's early "progress" when they haven't been on-air 60 days nor been through a full ratings book..

The MAX in Memphis does the same thing. They got Mother Wit and Issac Hayes to do some liners about the "soul collection" then play Stevie Wonder, the Gap Band, Aretha, James Brown, Sam & Dave, etc...then the next song it's back to Autograph or Collective Soul or Ratt. It's bizarre, but if you're stuck working in the kitchen of a pizza place like I am, it's not so bad....
______________
What do I know, I just play guitar and make pizzas.

that is what they said about our local classic rocker. when it signed on in 95 it was suppose to have a shelf life of two years also. when i said it was a great station my pd then yelled at me. those stations never last! 2 years max!... well it didnt just last 2 years its still top 5 till this day! i do believe jack is here to stay. the only people i know who dont like it are radio people..pds/ consultants..
______________
