Just a couple really quick points here. Well, just one word.
RATINGS!
Show me a JACK station with high ratings, please, I beg of you. EARL doesn't have them. Maybe the one in Atlanta does and if so, good for them. I'm in the middle about the tight format debate. More or less, YES you do have to have a tight format to be successful. I don't know any other way to explain this but I'll try... look at a station like The Peak, it's not your general format you hear about like Rock, Alternative, Country, Top 40, etc, etc. College radio can be another example I guess. But their not "jack" stations, their format can be tight and should be, it's just not your normal format you would hear of. I hope I explained myself well there. But too broad of music, what I call a "true jack" station is basically junk. I listen to Country and Alternative mostly, but I sure don't want to be listening to them both at the same time.
By the way, when you quote something, learn to separate the new thing you're saying from the quote. Speaking of Atlanta, Georgia, How 'bout those Bulldogs?
