JACK in JACKson?

Yup... I'm about as green as they come... (without being a Frog [yet])I've been in Radio for two years now (part-time) at seven radio stations (two clusters of three and a student station (number 3 ranked in the Southeast, not that anyone cares)) I've only been full-time Radio since April... but I have been on Air for three years...right now I'm doing mornings with Conrad on 104, and nights on 92.3 I hope they leave the music alone myself... and I'm actully pretty confident that they will...as far as i know Forever does not have a "brand" for classic rock... I think that Eagle will switch simply because Forever runs "Froggy country stations" but I think they'll be willing to give Rock a decent run and see with it can do with good leadership before they decide to do anything...the station needs to be tighter and sound better (kinda like when Burke was running it) but i think the music is better now because it appeals to a "bigger variety" anyway... yes I'm green... come on guys, help a newbie learn btw-kix 96 is not superwolf anymore... it's Thomas Media... superwolf has only a lpfm "radio 99"sorry but I have to say one more thing
The staff that made Eagle 104 second in the Jackson metro is no longer there as is painfully obvious when you listen to the station. The momentum in the market is definetly with the Thomas Media stations. Not just with the listeners but with the advertisers.
ok the only real thing that has changed since they left is the jocks and the fact the sales staff is working twice as hard... so... tell me am I really that bad that them leaving has been "painfully obvious"

Oh, are they getting a new manager?

Well, actually it is quite easy to pull numbers from those communities mentioned above with TSA and the software. I can't quote actual numbers because most real programmers know that is illegal...but I do know what they are and Froggy is not even close.
Well, just for the Record, "most real programmers" are wrong.Quoting actual numbers simply is not illegal. I suppose most folks believe it violates copyright, and Arbitron does little to clarify this myth. But "numbers" simply are not protected by copyright; they are facts, which are not the subject matter of copyright law. To get such protection, there has to be a a minimum amount of authorship in the form of original expression. Simply stating facts isn't enough. Phone books are not Copyrightable, for instance. This does not mean, however, that Arbitron is without recourse. Depending on what is in one's contact, there is always a possibility of a breach suit. Or, alternatively, they can Embargo. But, that's about it.There ain't no Arbitron Police, though, they may want you to think so.So, if I wanna say that Kix106 has -- say -- a 12.1 25-54 6a-6p M-F, I wouldn't go to jail for doing so. Period. But, what do I know?DE

Nope but if we're on on the bet, I like my steak medium! And I HATE OUTBACK. I'm thinking Madisons! ;) You in or out? You never said.

Ouch. There goes those Outback live spots that were coming your way! LOL :D
LMAO! They wouldn't send me any free food! Besides, Red Lobster is right up the street! I'm a Seafood guy anyway!

Hey Meepster....great line about Maxie at WASL. I was there way back in the Al Wood days...yes, that's Larry's father. As a matter of fact, Larry hired me there. Maxie has tried to get me back there a few times, but never backed it up with a reasonable offer. He has done rather well with WASL and WTRO though, Dyersburg is far different than when I lived there.

welll hopefully we'll get a PD... and no one has really had the time or desire to do much with Rock since Burke left... so if we get some one with the drive to do something I think it will be great.
welll hopefully we'll get a PD... and no one has really had the time or desire to do much with Rock since Burke left...
Actually Feckless, Jared Mims and myself "rebooted" Rock 92.3 in January of 2005 and the station saw it's first increase in ratings in over two years. Revenue also increased during this period. In fact the station is still playing the same imaging and using the same database.

LOL Yeah, let's give credit where credit is due.

I have this question...Were people really impressed with "Burke"? Was he considered like a really good PD or something? If so, it must have been due to something other than what I was hearing on the air. That thing he did with another guy (which was, I suppose a "Drake and Zeke" type attempt) simply did not work out.

Steve Burke is one of the most thorough PD's I have EVER met. He was given a target and told to make it happen. CC said the wanted a Rock station to reach men 25-54 and that's exactly what they got! He never left anything undone or ever dropped the ball on anything I can remember. The two man show was done with Burke in the control room and Baker in his house outside of Nashville. I'd say any lack of chemistry was because they weren't in the same room. But I won't say anything bad about Burke. The guy is a freaking work horse! He gave the big wigs exactly what they asked him to. I'm proud I got to work with him a while. I hear he's doing great in Augusta, Georgia now..... A one man show. :)

I just heard that another Jackson station may flip to a JACK type format before Forever does (if they are).A little "birdie" told me that a Jackson station is going to flip to BOB by the middle of September. (And it's not one of the Thomas Media stations.)

sorry guys I didn't mean to cut you guys down... all i was trying to say was that Burke was to the point of anal about it and focused everything on 92.3 (not that that was all good) , after he left (in my eyes) the focus switched to 104 (not that, that was a bad thing) it just happened. I like the music better now, and the imaging, what I was basically trying (and failing) to say was what gregg Said

Is this the same little "birdie" that was telling several posters on the Nashville board that WSM-FM was switching from a country format to a classic hits format called "Eagle 95.5" during the summer of 2004, only to basically remain with the country format when they became "The Wolf" in September 2004?If so, I don't think I would believe a word that "birdie" said!
