Well, WJMK has started taking shots at the competition in some of their liners. The biggest target is obviously WTMX (since SparkNet is suing Bonneville over the "whatever we want" positioner). In Chicago, Howard is calling morning team Eric and Kathy "dorks" and keeps saying that the Mix talks too much. Number 2 on the list is CC's WLIT, where they're using variations on the "Lite and sleepy elevator music" jabs that Bonneville used to make on the old Windy 100--with Howard saying in one sweeper "turn off the Lite, turn on Jack FM." And in the last couple of days, classic hits The Drive has come under Jack's scrutiny, mostly as being too "boring."
Admittedly, I haven't checked out the other stations enough to see if they were doing Jack-bashing, other than knowing that 'TMX had a "playing what you want" sweeper going and that on the Drive Bob Stroud began one of his Sunday "Rock and Roll Roots" shows with Ray Charles' "Hit the Road Jack" and a tribute to the 'JMK jocks. Do any of the other Jacks do competition-bashing and if so, is it basically the mainstream/hot/modern ACs that are their targets?
