Jack Observation

Note: This is far better programmed than Nine. It's more 80s and uptempo based. It's segues aren't as mind numbing. Staying UPTEMPO is very important for this format at it's launch. That's my belief. Very little AOR cuts, very little lost, out of place rock tracks for stoners (so far) make it more interesting than NINE.

A 2.0 to 2.5 is always possible. It's more together (music wise) than Nine was but what they bill? We'll see if it tops Oldies. As THEY say, it's all about the BOTTOM LINE. I seem to remember Clear Channel saying that about Jammin' Oldies, when you look at their bottom line, they're still not doing what The Beat did five years ago so, so much for that line of bull. They'll say anything to cover their ineptness in radio won't they?

What's really sad is that most of these songs they're playing should've ALWAYS been played on radio. Prince, Tone Loc, Blue Brothers etc could all fit into formats that exist now, they've just been dumped out in exchange for the same 70 songs in rotation. Radio's formats have gotten so stringent that there's no room for fun in most of them because they're too paranoid. Such a shame that the pendulum has swung this far off the clock.

My initial observation is that there is way too much processing! The signal sounds like crap!. I hope all who nailed News Web for how bad Nine FM Sounds also go after Infinity. Nine FM probably sounds bad for financial reasons. Infinity has no excuse since their pockets are deep!

Right on! Maybe Jack's concept is to sound worse than the rest. Seems to be a pattern.

MLII....definatly sounds better than Nine! They are playing upbeat 80's pop...the RIGHT songs too, not the wrong one's that WNND played. Also...not the same old Classic Rock that Nine is playing.

STANGE thing.....I just heard a liner say, "We play what we want....no requests....don't tell us what to play.....blah blah blah. What do you think of this?? If I were a regular listener...that would be a slap in my face. I would think that since they want nothing to do with me, they can shove their dictatorship station. What kind of impact do you think statements like that will have?

"We don't play requests. The other station that was here before us did, and you see what happened to them" I found that liner to be down right mean.

I think many will find it to be rude. Maybe that ploy works in other cities, but with radio being passionate here, that's a bad move.

It's one thing to make fun of the competition (a practice which has gotten w a y too outta control) but another to confront the listener.

Back off Jacko, you'll just shoot yourself in the foot.

It's a bad attempt at humor. Unless people understand they're trying to be funny it will work against them. Perception tests on elements should've come into play before implementing anything like that. Ask the listeners what they think of the imaging, ask the other PDs and APDs around the Country with a scope of the imaging what they think and put them together to see what the results are. My gut. The reaction and feedback would be super negative. The listeners will perceive it as ignorant. Not something I'd be doing.
