JACK or MOViN'?

Both seem to be underperforming - who do you think has the longest staying power and why?

Broken out by 18-34, 18-49 & 25-54 respectively...

MOViN'
KMVN/Los Angeles Emmis Movin' #21 #23 #25
KMVQ/San Francisco CBS Movin' #14 #16 #18
KMVK/Dallas CBS Movin' #11 #16 #17
KMVA/Phoenix Trumper Movin' #12 #15 #20

JACK
WCBS-F/New York CBS Jack #15 #15 #13
KCBS-F/Los Angeles CBS Jack #15 #10 #8
WJMK/Chicago CBS Jack #13 #11 #16
KJKK/Dallas CBS Jack #27 #11 #7

I think KJKK #7 25-54 is an anomaly. :-\

I've said before that Jack would probably go before MOViN because they have no on air talent and MOViN just keeps hiring those poor unsuspecting DJs. Besides there is a new digital board with mikes in JACK's studio. Guess we will have to just wait & see.

No way MOViN leaves first. Even though JACK has the better adult CUME, we all know CON-sultants believe the kids control the pocketbooks...er...uh...ratings. :-[

Completely agreed. JACK should stay, MOViN should pack up and OASIS should come back. It's a dead horse, yes. But I plan to beat that thing until I get glue. Top 5 market without a jazz stations... geesh. Too bad there isn't a middle finger icon in here. I would point that thing to the CBS tower. 8)

Clear Channel does quite well with SJ on 95.5 WNUA in Chicago. Why don't they put SJ on 97.1 or 102.1 or 92.5 (when it tanks)... heck, what about 1190 KFXR? AM smooth jazz is better than none at all

I refuse to listen to Movin. Yet, I was in Austin last week and they have a "similar" format down there and it sounded pretty good. More along the lines of "white guys can boogie too". :)

Movin, in my opinion, is too urban for my taste.

Just my opinion and two cents worth................which ain't worth much.

Interesting, but seriously post: isn't this format just for the former Ked's wearing, friendship bracelet having KISS listeners of yesteryear that hasn't fully reached you know, marriage? (OK, maybe not totally serious)

If smooth jazz is so great and Oasis leaving has left such a gaping hole, how come somebody else hasn't come in and filled the need?

Because it's not a money maker.

You can make more money with lower ratings (via the magic of better demographics) with other formats than smooth jazz...

An elementary school child could do better. Perhaps the owner should contact one of the school districts next month and hold a contest.
