JACK

Labor costs or, at least, a distraction that makes no money for the program staff.

However, they have kept a lot of other HD stations with music, such as the two in NYC with country and alternative. So it's not accurate to say they've given up on music on HD. They just announced that FM100 in Memphis is moving to digital.

I just checked. KRLD 1080 is now on KJKK HD2. Classic country is gone. :( KRLD-FM is no longer running HD. KJKK HD3 is running The Bet.
1080 KRLD had their HD off from around 4/28 and it just popped up again around 6/2. 105.3’s HD has been off since around Sunday night. They turn the HD off during games, but it seems they forgot to turn it back on.

You can catch 1080 KRLD on 98.7 KLUV-HD2 and also 100.3 KJJK-HD2. I’m guessing 105.3’s HD will come back sometime and when that happens, KRLD will be back on the HD2.

On a side note, I really wish they would just move The Oasis to 98.7 HD2 and then move Channel Q to 103.7 HD2. Channel Q cuts out a LOT on the HD3, even when I can see the Cedar Hill towers. I think there’s an unaddressed issue with 103.7’s HD transmitter.

I didn’t realize 1080 KRLD is also on KLUV-HD2. I guess Smokin’ Oldies is gone. I recall seeing them at 0.2 12+ in the ratings on a regular basis. Not bad for an HD only station.

I think a move like that could better align with the target audience of KLUV. Someone who listens to the Oasis would be more likely to listen to KLUV. Maybe KRLD-FM is having HD issues as well, and that could be why they turned it off. I did notice RDS going on and off on the station.
